The Allier, in the north of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, has two naturist campsites with contrasting profiles for a quiet holiday: a large international estate in Couzon, and a more low-key club site in Ébreuil.
Les Fourneaux, run by a Dutch couple since 2014, covers 43 hectares with pitches from 400 to 1,500 m². This naturist site, ranked in the world’s top 10 naturist campsites and rated 4.5 out of 5 by its guests, has a heated pool and a paddling pool, as well as a daily aperitif served on the terrace. It is open from 1 April to 15 October.
Nature et Amitié, in Ébreuil, is a 3-hectare naturist club site, affiliated with the Fédération française de naturisme and rated 4.6 out of 5. Access is reserved for holders of an FFN or FNI card. On site, simple facilities, a pool, pétanque and table tennis, keep guests busy, with a view over the Sioule gorges; motorhomes are accepted up to 7.50 metres.
For a large estate open to all, with no compulsory naturist card, Les Fourneaux, in Couzon, offers the most space, with generous pitches and an international welcome. For a club stay, reserved for holders of an FFN or FNI card, Nature et Amitié, in Ébreuil, relies on a natural setting by the Sioule gorges and simple activities among guests. Both of the Allier’s naturist campsites remain small-scale, far from mass tourism and the large villages of the coast. Check opening dates and availability with each establishment before booking your stay.
The Sioule gorges, which border Nature et Amitié in Ébreuil, rank among the Allier’s notable natural sites, with their deep meanders well suited to hiking and canoeing. The Fades viaduct, one of the highest in Europe when it was built, overlooks the river not far away, offering a spectacular view over the surrounding gorges.
About thirty kilometres from Couzon, Vichy, a spa town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers its thermal baths, its Parc des Sources and its Belle Époque architecture. Moulins, the prefecture of the Allier, retains its cathedral and its belfry, while the surrounding Bourbonnais countryside is well suited to hiking and cycling amid hedgerows, ponds and small rural villages, away from the tourist bustle.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
