FAQ

Naturism, in practice

What is naturism?

Naturism is a way of life based on living nude in community, with respect for oneself and others, in harmony with nature. At a naturist campsite, nudity is the norm on the pitches, around the swimming pools and on the dedicated beaches, outside communal areas such as restaurants or shops, where light clothing is generally expected.

Do you have to be nude at all times?

No. Nudity is encouraged but never required : everyone remains free to wear light clothing if they wish, particularly outside the swimming and sunbathing areas. The exact rules (opening hours, communal areas) vary from one site to another and are explained on arrival.

Is naturism suitable for families with children?

Yes, the vast majority of naturist campsites welcome families and offer activities for children. Some sites are more geared towards families, others more towards couples or solo adults : each campsite's page states its usual clientele when the information is available.

What is the Fédération Française de Naturisme (FFN)?

The FFN is the national body that brings together the majority of clubs and naturist campsites in France. An affiliated site follows a shared charter, but many reputable naturist campsites also operate independently or as an association, outside any federation.

Booking and preparing your stay

How do you book a campsite found on Aimer Camper Naturiste?

You book directly with the campsite, with no intermediary or hidden mark-up : the price shown is the price you pay. The contact details of each establishment appear on its page.

What should you bring for a first naturist stay?

As with any camping stay : your usual gear (tent, mobile home, or booking accommodation on site), a beach towel to sit on (commonly required in naturist areas, for hygiene reasons), and light clothing for moments outside the nudity zone. Everything else depends on the facilities specific to each site, detailed on its page. Our guide to naturism while camping covers all this in more detail.

Can you visit a naturist campsite without being a naturist yourself?

Some sites welcome non-practising visitors for a discovery visit, while others reserve access to people who accept the rules of the place. This point should be checked directly with the campsite before booking.

Our selection

How are campsites selected for this site?

Every campsite is checked against its official information (photos, facilities, contact details) before it goes online, then updated as our exchanges with the site continue. This is not a directory open to every campsite in France, but a selection of campsites that practise naturism.

Where do the reviews shown on the pages come from?

The reviews come from Google, posted by holidaymakers who have stayed at the site. We neither write nor edit these reviews.
