24 listed naturist campsites are classified 4 stars, the second-highest level of the official Atout France classification. At this level, the average pitch size must reach 100 m² (114 m² at 5 stars), and the points grid rewards a wider range of services: restaurant, kids' club, wellness area. Nine of these campsites are in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, five in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and three in Corsica, for family naturist holidays as well as stays without a compulsory card.
In Gironde, Euronat, in Grayan-et-l'Hôpital, is Europe's largest naturist village, with 335 hectares and 1.5 km of beach; CHM Monta, in Vendays-Montalivet, describes itself as Europe's first naturist village, founded in 1950, with around 200 activities a week in season; and La Jenny, in Le Porge, has a naturist golf course and a heated 1,000 m² pool. In the Landes, Arnaoutchot, in Vielle-Saint-Girons, offers three direct beach accesses, a 5,000 m² naturist spa and three kids' and teens' clubs at peak season. Between the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne, Domaine Laborde combines five pools and two spring-fed lakes, and in the Dordogne, Camping Naturiste Le Couderc offers free sauna and hammam every day. In the Creuse, Creuse Nature Naturisme requires no naturist card at all; in Corrèze, Domaine du Coq Rouge focuses on unusual accommodation; in Haute-Vienne, Lous Suais runs along Lake Maulde.
In Esparron-de-Verdon, Camping naturiste Verdon Provence has two naturist coves on a lake, at the entrance to the Verdon gorges. In Fayence, in the Var, La Tuquette combines two heated pools with a massage area. In Limans, Domaine des Lauzons offers three pools and water slides, and in Briançonnet, Le Haut Chandelalar has a wheelchair-accessible chalet with a private spa. In Puget-Théniers, Origan Village runs along a river with a 50-metre water slide.
In Haute-Corse, Bagheera Resort and Camping Calella, in Bravone and Linguizzetta, give direct access to sandy beaches, and Riva Bella adds a thalassotherapy centre unique in Corsica. In the Gard, Domaine de la Sablière, in Barjac, has 504 pitches and accommodation units beneath a covered pool with a retractable dome, in the Cèze gorges. At Cap d'Agde, in the Hérault, Centre Naturiste René Oltra has been a pioneer of naturism since 1956. In Haute-Garonne, Les Aillos holds the Camping Qualité label, and in Tarn-et-Garonne, Les Manoques occupies 14 hectares of oak forest. In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Domaine de la Gagère, in the Morvan Park, and Les Étangs de Saint Pancras, by four ponds in Haute-Saône, round out the offer, as does Le Colombier, in the Vendée, with its pond, farm and mill.
4-star campsites generally offer a full water area (heated, sometimes covered pool, water slides), a choice of rental accommodation and activities in season. For a holiday by the ocean, the three large villages in Gironde offer the most services; for a more intimate setting without a compulsory naturist card, as at Creuse Nature Naturisme, the sites in the Verdon or the Périgord are better suited to a quiet stay.
On the Gironde coast, the three large naturist villages (Euronat, CHM Monta, La Jenny) are close to Soulac-sur-Mer and Montalivet, with their summer markets and cycle paths as far as the Gironde estuary. In the Landes, Arnaoutchot opens onto pine forest and the Atlantic Ocean, a few kilometres from Lake Léon.
In the Gard, Domaine de la Sablière is 25 minutes from the Pont d'Arc and the Salamandre cave, in the neighbouring Ardèche gorges. Around Esparron-de-Verdon, in Provence, the Verdon gorges and Lake Sainte-Croix draw hikers and canoeists. In Burgundy, Domaine de la Gagère, in the Morvan regional nature park, is known for its sunsets.
In Corsica, the naturist beaches of Linguizzetta and Bravone stretch over several kilometres of sand, while at Cap d'Agde, in the Hérault, the historic naturist quarter can be explored on foot from René Oltra. Check the opening dates of the covered or heated pools, often from April to October depending on the site.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
