Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes brings together six naturist campsites across five departments, between the volcanoes of the Auvergne and the gorges of Rhône-Alpes, for small-scale, often club-based stays.
In the Allier, two campsites coexist: a large international estate in Couzon and a club site near Ébreuil, by the Sioule gorges. In the Cantal, Domaine de la Taillade, in Neuvéglise-sur-Truyère, occupies a 350-hectare organic farm by the Truyère gorges, with yurts, chalets and supervised kayaking activities. In the Puy-de-Dôme, La Serre de Portelas, in Saint-Saturnin, run by the Club du Soleil de Clermont-Ferrand since 1963, sits in the heart of the Parc des Volcans d’Auvergne, with pétanque, volleyball and archery.
In the Ardèche, La Plage des Templiers, in Saint-Remèze, is the only naturist campsite in the Ardèche gorges: accessible only on foot, with luggage carried by pulley, and a large naturist beach by the river. In the Isère, Camping et Gîtes naturiste Le Pont d’Adèle, in Murinais, offers a fully naturist 15-hectare estate around a château, with a heated indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gîtes open all year round.
The range of accommodation varies greatly from one department to another: yurts and chalets amid nature in the Cantal, furnished tents in the Ardèche gorges, year-round gîtes in the Isère, or bare pitches in the Allier and Puy-de-Dôme. Several establishments are wheelchair accessible, such as Le Pont d’Adèle in the Isère, and activities range from white-water hiking to racquet sports, via kayaking and archery.
For a club stay amid the volcanoes of the Auvergne, head to the Puy-de-Dôme or the Cantal. For a nature experience by a river, the Ardèche and its gorges offer a unique setting, accessible only on foot. For a year-round estate with a spa and gîtes, the Isère relies on Le Pont d’Adèle. The Allier rounds out the offering with a large international estate and a more low-key club site. Each department page details its establishments and their surroundings.
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes combines volcanoes, gorges and mountains. The Parc naturel régional des Volcans d’Auvergne, around Saint-Saturnin, protects the Chaîne des Puys, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Cantal, the Truyère gorges and the Garabit viaduct, a work by Gustave Eiffel completed in 1884, tower over a wild landscape well suited to hiking and canoeing.
In the Ardèche, the gorges and the Pont d’Arc, an emblematic natural arch, draw hikers and canoe-kayak enthusiasts all summer long, as does the nearby Chauvet cave. In the Isère, the Vercors massif offers hiking and via ferrata a few kilometres from Murinais, while Lyon and Grenoble, the region’s major cities, remain within less than two hours of most naturist campsites.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
