In Ébreuil, in the Allier, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Nature et Amitié naturist site occupies a hilly plot at the place called Côte Vieille, in the foothills of the Massif Central, at around 400 metres of altitude and 3.5 km from the village. The site overlooks the Sioule gorge, facing wooded slopes that rise up to 800 metres on the far bank.
Run by a naturist association, the site covers around 3 hectares and offers 15 to 20 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, in sun or shade. About ten of them have electricity, and motorhomes up to 7.50 m long are accepted. The whole remains deliberately modest, away from the large naturist resorts on the coast.
Access is reserved for holders of a card from the French Naturism Federation (FFN) or the FNI, even for a short stay of a few days. The friendly, family atmosphere is carried by the couple who run the site as volunteers and are regularly praised by visitors for their welcome.
The site is open from late June to mid-September, but the welcome of passing visitors is concentrated in July and August, a period when the FFN or FNI card is systematically requested. Booking is not required, although a call or email before arrival is appreciated by those in charge.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “A card from the French Naturism Federation (FFN) or the FNI is mandatory to be admitted in July and August, including for passing visitors. Nudity is practised across the whole site.”
The site has a pool open to all guests, an equipped communal kitchen and shared fridges available to campers. A table football and a swing complete the leisure equipment, with a central communal barbecue for outdoor meals. A paid laundry service rounds out this simple, association-run offer: there is no restaurant, snack bar or shop on the site itself.
Shops for essential needs are in Ébreuil, 3.5 km away: a bakery, a general grocery store and everyday services. For more complete shopping, Gannat, 13 km away, brings together several shops, and Vichy, 30 km away, offers a wider range of services, between spa town and lively riverside town centre on the Allier.
2026 rates are per night: €9 per adult, €4 per child, €5.50 for the pitch, and a €4 surcharge for pitches with electricity, of which there are a limited number. Use of the washing machine is charged at €3.50 per load. Payment is made directly to those in charge, reachable by phone or email before arrival.
On site, activities stay simple and unstructured: a table tennis table, a pétanque court, a table football and a swing are available to campers, alongside the pool. There is no children’s club or organised entertainment programme; the spirit of the place favours calm and self-sufficiency over supervised activities.
The surrounding area, however, offers plenty of outing options. The Sioule, which borders the area, is well suited to canoeing and kayaking. Several hiking and cycling routes, including long and short trails through the volcanoes of the Auvergne, criss-cross the surrounding hills between 300 and 800 metres of altitude.
The village of Ébreuil itself, awarded the label “Petite Cité de Caractère”, is worth a visit: its Romanesque abbey church of Saint-Léger, listed as a historic monument, is one of the few churches in France to retain a nave in the Carolingian style. Less than an hour’s drive away, the Vulcania park and the Puy de Dôme attract volcanism enthusiasts, while Gannat, 13 km away, hosts an international folklore festival in late July, and Vichy, 30 km away, rounds out the offer with its thermal baths and lively town centre on the banks of the Allier.
