Two very different sites make up the department's offering: a family-friendly estate by the sea, on the Guérande coast, and a discreet association on the outskirts of Nantes.
Le Clos Marot, a campsite run by the A.N.C.A. (Association Naturiste de la Côte d'Amour) in Piriac-sur-Mer, covers 6 wooded hectares plus a further 3 hectares of woodland reserved for nude walks. Its 65 pitches are split between a plot with a pool and hot tub and a larger plot with or without electricity. A partner of the Fédération Française de Naturisme, the campsite requires the FFN licence for any stay, and lends bikes free of charge to reach a beach 7 kilometres away reserved for clothing-free holidaymakers. Out of season, sessions are also organised at the town's water park, with a sports pool, a slide and a wellness area.
In Couëron, around ten minutes from Nantes, La Châtaigneraie d'Armor is the site of the Club Gymnique de l'Ouest (C.G.O.), founded in 1950: one of the oldest of its kind in France. Admission, open to both members and visitors, is arranged by phone or online form, and handled on site by volunteers, with a few pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes. The heated pool, surrounded by sun loungers, and the sauna remain accessible during opening hours, and 'le home', a large common room with a kitchen and fireplace, serves as a communal living space. Out of season, members meet on Saturday evenings at the municipal pool of la Durantière, in Nantes.
For a family stay by the sea, with beach access and estate living, Le Clos Marot offers the most services. To try naturism in a friendly, club-based setting close to Nantes, La Châtaigneraie d'Armor offers a free trial day before any commitment. Both establishments require a federation licence, issued on site to newcomers.
Around Piriac-sur-Mer, the Guérande peninsula can be explored on foot or by bike: the flower-lined granite lanes of Piriac, the Côte Sauvage at Le Croisic, or Guérande, a town of art and history with intact medieval ramparts and its salt marshes, where Guérande salt is harvested. The Brière Regional Nature Park, the second-largest marshland in France, can be explored nearby on foot, by bike, on horseback or by horse-drawn carriage, amid canals and traditional thatched cottages.
Near Couëron, the heritage and parks of Nantes are easily visited in around ten minutes. The coast remains within reach: Saint-Nazaire lies 65 kilometres away, and a naturist beach at La Turballe, about an hour's drive away, with other similar spots in Brittany and Vendée to extend the trip.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
