The Pays de la Loire region brings together five naturist campsites across three departments: Mayenne, with its bocage countryside, Loire-Atlantique, with its Atlantic coastline, and Vendée, in the south, where a single estate concentrates most of the region's services.
In Mayenne, two contrasting sites sit side by side between Laval and Le Mans: a family-friendly club campsite open to passing holidaymakers, and a farm reserved for adults. In Loire-Atlantique, the offering is split between a seaside estate on the Guérande peninsula and a historic club founded in 1950 on the outskirts of Nantes, one of the oldest in France. In both departments, hospitality stays small-scale, often run by associations or volunteer members.
In Vendée, only one establishment is listed, but it offers the highest level of comfort in the region: a fifty-hectare estate rated 4 stars, with a pool heated to 28 degrees, a wellness area and a restaurant serving local specialities every evening. Accommodation ranges from bare pitches to an unusual lodge, via mobile homes and chalets, and the naturist beaches of the Vendée coast lie about an hour's drive away.
Across the departments, the five sites share common features: a pitch for a tent, caravan or motorhome, with or without electricity depending on the site, a swimming pool (heated in most cases, sometimes with a sun terrace), wifi access and adapted sanitary facilities. In terms of activities and leisure, petanque, table tennis, badminton and volleyball come up at most sites, with a nearby play area for children at the more family-oriented campsites; several sites also lend bikes free of charge. Pets are allowed under certain conditions at some sites, particularly in Vendée and Mayenne. In a setting of woods and hedgerows, each site keeps a communal living space (common room, 'home' or meeting point), and renting accommodation (mobile home, chalet, lodge or guest room depending on the site) complements the bare pitches.
For an all-inclusive stay, with a restaurant, heated pool and varied accommodation, Vendée offers the most comfort. For a friendly, club-based experience, Mayenne and Loire-Atlantique offer smaller sites, often run by volunteers, sometimes with a free trial day for newcomers. The region offers a wide diversity of landscapes to extend a naturist stay: the bocage countryside of Mayenne and its sunken lanes, the Guérande peninsula with its salt marshes and the Brière Regional Nature Park, and the Vendée coast between Sables-d'Olonne and the Marais Poitevin. Nantes, a city of art and history, is easily visited from the campsites of Loire-Atlantique, while Puy du Fou, the Gois causeway to Noirmoutier and the Île d'Yeu round out the outings from Vendée.
