Mayenne has two naturist campsites with very different profiles, both set in the bocage countryside between Laval and Le Mans.
Mayenne Nature, in Soulgé-sur-Ouette, is run by an association that has welcomed both its members and passing holidaymakers since the sixties, from 1 May to 30 September. The 3-hectare wooded clearing, nicknamed 'le petit bois', has a swimming pool with a sun terrace and a private pond reserved for fishing. FFN membership includes the licence; non-member visitors are welcomed without a licence, at the nightly rate. The site offers a range of activities: petanque, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, table football and a children's play area. The mixed, family atmosphere suits couples and solo travellers alike, in a friendly, club-based spirit.
By contrast, LPC Naturist Accommodation & Camping, in Colombiers-du-Plessis, is a two-hectare farm run by a British couple, reserved for adults. Clothing stays optional there, never compulsory, and guests are welcomed in both English and French. Six pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes are complemented by a guest room with a private hot tub and a glamping pod, also fitted with a hot tub; wifi is available across the whole property. The farm keeps its original character, with its animals (hens, sheep, a cat and a dog) and its vegetable garden, in a quiet setting open from May to the end of October.
For a family stay with access to a pond, on-site activities and a club life punctuated by themed dinners, Mayenne Nature fits the bill. For a stay as a couple, in the calm of a farm with a hot tub and no obligation to go nude, LPC Naturist Accommodation & Camping is aimed more at adults seeking peace and quiet. The two sites lie less than half an hour apart, in a wooded setting well suited to naturism and outdoor leisure: check rates and availability directly with each campsite.
The bocage countryside of Mayenne, between Laval and Le Mans, is ideal for walking and cycling along its sunken lanes. Near Colombiers-du-Plessis, the Renaudies trail (around 10.5 km) and the Petite Sévinière trail run alongside the Graffardière pond, popular for picnics, and follow the Ernée, a small tributary of the Mayenne river. The Gauberdière mill, with its water wheel, and a restored, flower-decked nineteenth-century wash house mark the village walks.
A little further afield, Lake Haute-Mayenne, in Ambrières-les-Vallées, and the pilgrimage town of Pontmain round out the outings, along with the town of Mayenne, some twenty kilometres away, Laval, between the two campsites, and Gorron, five minutes from the farm in Colombiers-du-Plessis.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
