Le Pont d’Adèle occupies the site of the former Château de la Balme, which overlooked the village of Murinais, in the Isère, until its destruction in 1943. Its outbuildings, converted into gîtes, were then destroyed by fire on 7 July 2013, before being fully rebuilt to form the current building: the owners’ house and five gîtes. The estate, entirely dedicated to naturism, covers fifteen hectares facing the Vercors massif.
Two entities share the site: the gîtes, housed in the main building, and a campsite opened in 2017 further down, on terraces reclaimed from the forest. Catherine and Raphaël, the owners, welcome arrivals themselves and show them around.
The largely wooded hill is criss-crossed by numerous paths through the forest. Two enclosures house farmyard animals, and a few remains of the former château (bridges, an observation platform, a tunnel) have been restored around the estate, which is planted with remarkable cedars.
The gîtes welcome guests year-round; the campsite operates seasonally. Murinais is about twenty minutes from Grenoble-Isère airport, and the nearest SNCF station is at Saint-Marcellin.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “An estate entirely dedicated to naturism, in both the gîtes and the campsite. The owners, Catherine and Raphaël, handle reception themselves on site.”
The ground floor of the gîte building brings together facilities shared by tenants: a heated, covered pool, a sauna, a jacuzzi, a massage room, a games room with a billiard table and free wifi. On the adjoining terrace, a barbecue, tables, benches and sun loungers complete the setup, with an open view over the valley.
The campsite, located further down, has its own outdoor pool of around nine by four metres, with a wooden deck and sun loungers, as well as a sanitary block. A pitch and sanitary facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility are provided.
There is no catering on the estate. The village of Murinais has only one address, the Auberge des Saveurs, open depending on the day and serving whatever the owner has chosen to cook that day. For shops, markets and supermarkets, it takes about ten minutes by car to Saint-Marcellin. Leaflets on activities in the area are available to visitors on the estate.
The estate lends itself above all to relaxing and walking in the forest: numerous paths across the wooded hill invite exploration, among remarkable cedars and remains of the former château, two small bridges, an observation platform and a tunnel. Two enclosures house goats, hens, geese, ducks and turkeys, which visitors come across along their walk.
On the gîtes’ terrace, a petanque pitch hosts games, and the shared games room has a billiard table. Children’s play equipment rounds out the outdoor offering.
The area around Murinais can also be explored by bike or on foot: the petrified springs garden at La Sône, a paddle-steamer trip down the Isère followed by a return cycle ride in the shade of walnut trees, or the greenway gradually linking Grenoble to Valence. The nearby Vercors massif is reached via Pont-en-Royan and the Bourne gorges.
