La Plage des Templiers is located in Saint-Remèze, a village of around 900 inhabitants at an altitude of 350 metres, whose old stone houses cluster around the church, surrounded by vineyards and lavender fields, in the heart of the Ardèche gorges nature reserve. The campsite describes itself as the only naturist establishment in the area.
Access is on foot only, via a rough path from the car park; vehicles (vans, motorhomes, caravans) are not allowed, and luggage is lowered by winch, with operating hours that vary by period: from 9am to 1pm and 3.30pm to 6pm until 22 August, then from 9am to 11am and 4pm to 6pm afterwards. The campsite sits amid nature, shaded by trees, on the banks of a large sandy beach on the Ardèche, surrounded by cliffs and caves. The pitches, all different, are reserved for tents and split between shaded and sunny areas; several water points and three sanitary blocks, with showers, toilets and dishwashing sinks, serve the site.
The naturism practised here follows the charter of the French Naturist Federation (FFN). Solo visitors must present a valid naturist membership card. The site, cut off from roads and sometimes from mobile phone coverage, is described by holidaymakers as ideal for recharging with family or friends.
The campsite is open from 6 June to 6 September 2026.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Compliance with the charter of the French Naturist Federation (FFN) is required. Solo visitors must present a valid naturist membership card.”
The La Commanderie restaurant offers a menu of salads, pizzas, grills and hot dishes in July and August, open every evening except Monday. Takeaway pizzas are served at lunch and dinner throughout the opening period, and can be delivered directly to your accommodation. A small shop sells pastries and pizzas.
The campsite offers a winch service to lower luggage down to the pitches: the fee is 17 euros for a descent between 9am and 6pm, with a 5-euro surcharge outside opening hours. Several water points and three sanitary blocks, equipped with showers, toilets and dishwashing sinks, are spread across the campsite.
There is no swimming pool on the campsite: swimming takes place in the Ardèche, along the large naturist beach that borders the site, between cliffs and caves.
On the wellness side, massages (Lomi water massage, couples’ massage, four-hand massage, Korean relaxation) are offered by practitioners based on the campsite, from late June to late August, by appointment at reception.
On the campsite, holidaymakers have access to a pétanque court, a volleyball court, table tennis tables and table football, as well as games for children. Hatha yoga workshops and guided meditation sessions, led by Véronique, take place from mid-July to early August, in French, English and Spanish; meditation is open to children aged 12 and up.
Guided hikes led by a certified guide are organised on certain Thursdays in July and August, starting from the campsite, to discover the wildlife, plants and geology of the Ardèche gorges nature reserve; they are open to children from age 7.
Canoe-kayak descents of the Ardèche gorges are one of the area’s signature activities: the route passes weirs, chutes and natural rapids, under the Pont d’Arc, with swimming and picnic stops. The campsite recommends two local rental operators and allows guests doing a two-day descent to stop over on site, with one night at the campsite.
