Campsite La Tuquette occupies a wooded estate of five hectares at the hamlet of Les Suanes Hautes, a few kilometres from the village of Fayence, in the Var, between Provence and the Côte d’Azur. Founded in 2003 by Christiane and Robert, it is now run by their children Brice and Caroline and her husband Arnaud, who carry on the family spirit of the place. The estate has 94 pitches, including 22 rentals, shaded by oaks and pines, under Mediterranean vegetation where cicadas sing.
Rated four stars and awarded the Camping Qualité label, the establishment is affiliated with the Fédération française de naturisme. The spacious pitches (80 to 100 m²) are bounded by Provençal vegetation to preserve each family’s privacy. The campsite opens from spring to autumn, usually from late April to early October.
Naturism here is family-oriented and friendly: young and old gather around the two heated pools, at the heart of estate life. The reception team, trilingual in French, English and Spanish, guides holidaymakers throughout the season, in an atmosphere the establishment itself describes as a “haven of freedom”.
Pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes all have a 6-amp electrical hook-up, and a dedicated service area makes emptying easy for motorhomes. The estate lies in the Pays de Fayence, a hilly area in the Var hinterland known for its hilltop villages.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “The establishment is described as a family-friendly and sociable naturist venue, welcoming young and old around two heated pools.”
The estate’s restaurant serves regional specialities à la carte every evening from 1 May to 1 October, as well as on Saturdays, Sunday lunchtimes and public holidays; there is no dining service on Tuesday evenings. Each morning, a drop-off of fresh bread and pastries awaits holidaymakers at reception for breakfast. Free Wi-Fi at the “Brasse…Rit” area covers the whole campsite, and a laundry service rounds out the practical offering.
The estate has two heated pools of medium depth (1.10 m and 1.35 m), designed for both wading and swimming, with a secure play area and water games reserved for children. The ZEN area offers beauty treatments and massages by appointment, as well as fitness equipment freely accessible all day long.
For early departures before 7.30am, a dedicated chalet, called the “early riser” area, allows guests to spend the last night of their stay as close as possible to the exit, limited to two spots per night, by booking. Rentals include fully equipped Gîtotel chalets and Cosylodges: kitchen with fridge, hob, microwave and full crockery, bathroom with shower and toilet, and a covered outdoor terrace with garden furniture.
Reception, provided by the estate’s family team, is available in French, English and Spanish, from spring to autumn, to advise holidaymakers throughout their stay.
The campsite offers a daily entertainment programme in July and August: petanque, table tennis, volleyball, yoga and relaxation, as well as aquagym sessions in the heated pools. Guided hikes allow visitors to discover the Pays de Fayence, known for its 300 kilometres of marked trails leading to oil mills, hilltop villages and dolmens; the same wooded paths are also suited to mountain biking. In the evening, barbecues, concerts and karaoke bring holidaymakers together on the bar terrace, in the friendly atmosphere typical of the establishment.
Nearby, Lake Saint-Cassien, covering 420 hectares, is suited to swimming and offers pedalo and rowing boat rental, as well as fishing for carp and predatory fish. The Mediterranean beaches, some thirty kilometres away (Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël, Antibes, Saint-Tropez), are suited to windsurfing, jet-skiing and scuba diving. To the north, the gorges of the Loup, the Siagne and the Verdon are suited to canoeing and canyoning amid spectacular gorge scenery.
Thrill-seekers can also try gliding with the Association Aéronautique Provence Côte d’Azur, based in Fayence, which offers introductory flights and gliding courses over the landscapes of the Pays de Fayence. Hikers can also set off to discover the hilltop villages of the Var hinterland, amid traditional oil mills and sun-drenched, rolling landscapes.
Open from late April to early October.
