Overview

Le Champ du Moulin is located in Verrières, in the Aube, on the banks of the Seine, around 12 kilometres from Troyes. The well-kept, wooded grounds cover 9 hectares with direct, private access to the river, complemented by a pond and three water access areas.

The campsite is run by the Club du Soleil de Troyes, a volunteer association founded in 1949 by Bernard Perron under the name Heliosport. The gravel pit that now borders the site was dug in 1965, the site became the association’s property in 1990, and the campsite opened there in 1996. The association now has more than 60 members, who maintain and bring the place to life all year round, from the board to the communal work days organised in spring and autumn.

Naturism here is practised as a family, focused on rest, relaxation and wellbeing, in a setting the club describes as well-kept and close to nature. An FFN or INF licence is compulsory for any stay, from age 15; it can be obtained on site and remains free for under-18s. It is also possible to come for a day visit, without accommodation, with a simple federal stamp for people who do not yet hold a licence.

The campsite welcomes holidaymakers from 1 May to 30 September. Members readily describe the grounds as suited to naturist activities all year round for club members.

What the site says about its approach to naturism: “FFN or INF licence compulsory for any stay, from age 15, free for under-18s; day visits possible with a federal stamp. Family-friendly club, founded in 1949, run by an association of more than 60 volunteer members.”

The outdoor pool and the pond, where pedal boating, rowing and fishing take place, set the pace of summer days, alongside the private beach on the Seine and the three water access areas spread across the grounds. A recently built fitness area, with several pieces of equipment set up outdoors, has been installed in the shade of the trees.

For games, the campsite offers a pétanque pitch, a badminton court, a basketball hoop, a table tennis table and outdoor games for children. A television area rounds out the shared living spaces, alongside the new bar and its grocery shop.

Club life also sets the rhythm of the season: the club organises regular gatherings for its members, such as a barbecue meal on 14 July, a dance evening the night before, or a pétanque tournament followed by a meal on 15 August. Outside the camping season, Epiphany cake, pancake afternoons, sauerkraut and couscous meals also punctuate club life, right through to the annual general meeting and the association’s Christmas celebration.

Nearby, Troyes and its historic centre lie around twelve kilometres away, extending the discovery of the Aube beyond the naturist grounds.
