Les Bruyères d’Arvor is an association-run naturist campsite in the hamlet of Keranstumeau, a few kilometres from the village centre of Cléguer, in the Morbihan, north of Lorient. The site has been run since 1966 by the Association Naturiste Morbihannaise (ANM), a volunteer-run 1901-law association, which in 2026 celebrates its site’s sixtieth anniversary with a gathering starting on 13 June.
The estate covers 7 hectares of woods and clearings, between a sunny meadow and shaded undergrowth. Around thirty pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes are spread across it, complemented by four simple bungalows available to rent. The welcome sign, bilingual in French and Breton, immediately sets the tone for a site firmly rooted in its local area.
The association is affiliated with the Fédération Française de Naturisme. Campers are asked for an FFN or FNI licence to stay on the site, but membership of the association itself, which gives a vote in association life, remains optional for day visitors. Naturism is practised here in a family spirit, in a setting described as simple and friendly, geared more towards calm and contact with nature than large facilities.
The site only opens in the summer season, from mid-June to mid-September, and closes entirely for the rest of the year, for lack of permanent staff.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “An association affiliated with the FFN: campers are asked for an FFN or FNI licence to stay on the site, but membership of the association remains optional for day visitors. Family naturism, in an association-based, friendly spirit.”
Les Bruyères d’Arvor is a small association-run site, staffed by volunteers: it offers no bar or restaurant on site, with meals prepared on the pitch or at the bungalow. A communal building, known as “the Home”, serves as a shared living space with a TV area, games and a small library, and also hosts the evenings organised during the season.
The south-facing pool is the site’s central facility for cooling off in summer. It is surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers, set apart from the wooded pitch area. There is no covered water area or beach on site: the nearest sea is reached by car, towards the Lorient roadstead or the neighbouring town of Ploemeur.
Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer, holiday vouchers or cash. The site, run by members taking turns, favours simple exchanges over sophisticated facilities: this is naturism close to home, far from large commercial structures.
On site, a renovated petanque and boules pitch and a table tennis table are freely accessible to campers. A communal barbecue is available for shared meals, and evenings are organised regularly at the Home during the season, following the rhythm of association life.
The site is located in Cléguer, a town crossed by the Scorff river, spanned by an old stone bridge at the heart of the village. The nearby Blavet valley is well suited to walking and cycling along its towpath, between Hennebont and Inzinzac-Lochrist. The thatched-cottage village of Poul-Fétan, in Quistinic, offers tours centred on traditional Breton crafts.
On the coast, Lorient and its beaches (Fort-Bloqué, Ploemeur, Larmor-Plage) are about twenty minutes away by road, as is the citadel of Port-Louis. Naturism is practised here with complete discretion, without organised activities for children, in an association spirit where life on the site rests above all on its volunteer members.
Open from mid-June to mid-September.
