Overview

Le Colombier is in Saint-Martin-Lars-en-Sainte-Hermine, in southern Vendée, about thirty kilometres from La Roche-sur-Yon and around twenty-six kilometres from Fontenay-le-Comte. The naturist beaches of La Tranche-sur-Mer and L’Aiguillon are about an hour’s drive away. The campsite belongs to the Made in Camp group, alongside Le Roc à Vairé and Le Fief Melin on the Île d’Oléron, and remains the group’s only naturist site.

The estate covers fifty hectares, thirteen of which are set up for the campsite, around a pond, a former manor farm and a mill that now houses part of the campsite’s communal areas. It carries a 4-star rating.

Naturism is practised across the whole estate, including on the pitches. The atmosphere is family-friendly, in a spirit of freedom and simplicity that the operator claims, with plots large enough to preserve everyone’s privacy. Accommodation ranges from bare pitches, 110 to 300 square metres, to an unusual lodge, by way of mobile homes and chalets.

The 2026 season runs from 1 May to 30 September. Reception is open every day, with hours that vary by period: 9am to midday and 3pm to 6pm from May to June and in September, until 7pm in July and August.

What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Naturism is practised across the whole estate, including on the pitches.”

The estate’s restaurant, set in the rustic surroundings of the former farmhouse, serves Vendée specialities every evening, with theme meals through the season. The bar offers drinks and ice cream, and a snack bar lets you take your meal back to your accommodation or pitch. A grocery shop rounds out the offer with bread, pastries and local produce.

Wi-Fi is free across the whole estate, and a launderette is fitted with washing machines and dryers. Four sanitary blocks are spread across the grounds, including one eco-friendly block and two accessible to people with reduced mobility. For an extra charge, the campsite rents out fridges, towels, bedding, chairs and cots, and lends electrical adapters and baby baths.

Dogs and cats are welcome for an extra charge, under conditions (vaccination, identification, categories 1 and 2 banned). Holiday vouchers are accepted, and communal charcoal barbecues are dotted around the estate’s meadows. Nearby shops, a bakery, a cheesemonger and a tobacconist, are less than ten minutes away by car. Holidaymakers are welcomed from 3pm, and at check-out: by 10am to hand back a mobile home and by midday for a camping pitch.

The pool, heated to 28 degrees, is the heart of estate life, with its large swimming basin, paddling pool and rain mushroom for children. Night swims under the stars are organised through the season, a moment particularly popular with families.

Separate from the pool, a wellness area brings together a hot tub, a hammam and a sauna, with the option of booking a massage from outside providers. The estate also offers beach volleyball, and hiking trails cross the estate’s fifty hectares, through varied flora and fauna; dogs, welcome across the whole site, can follow their owners along these same paths.

The surrounding Vendée area is well suited to excursions: the Puy du Fou, a historical theme park renowned for its night shows, the Passage du Gois crossing to the Île de Noirmoutier, the Île d’Yeu, the Marais Poitevin, nicknamed Green Venice, and the Côte de Lumière around Les Sables-d’Olonne. The naturist beaches of La Tranche-sur-Mer and L’Aiguillon remain about an hour’s drive away. On the food side, the region is also worth discovering through its specialities: Vendée brioche and Atlantic oysters round off an active stay nicely.
