U Furu occupies 30 hectares in the Furcone valley, at the foot of the Alta Rocca massif, in southern Corsica, 8 km from the sea and a few kilometres from Porto-Vecchio, which lies on the same latitude as Rome. The centre offers stone cottages known as “Casetti”, as well as large shaded pitches reserved for camping.
The Furcone river, which runs through the property, forms numerous waterfalls and natural pools: its lower stretch, below the first fall, remains accessible even to small children, while the upper stretch leads to a waterfall of over ten metres. A 14 m pool, decorated with a mosaic made on site by the artist Judikaelle Sharp, rounds out the offer alongside the adjoining bar.
Naturism is the spirit of the centre and remains compulsory for all visitors. U Furu is listed by the Fédération Française de Naturisme (FFN) among Corsica’s naturist holiday centres, in an atmosphere described as family-friendly and peaceful.
The centre is open from May to mid-October, with a high season in July and August; the bar-restaurant service and the sports facilities run from 1 May to 15 October.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Naturism is the spirit of the centre and remains compulsory for all visitors. U Furu is listed by the Fédération Française de Naturisme (FFN) among Corsica's naturist holiday centres.”
The bar and restaurant, decorated with a mosaic crafted on site, form the centre’s main meeting point: in the evening, holidaymakers gather there for a dish typical of the region, a Corsican chestnut beer, a Corsican wine or one of the barman’s cocktails. A bakery service ensures a daily supply of bread from 1 May to 15 October.
The 14-metre pool, surrounded by tables, benches and wifi all around the basin, is open from 9am to 8pm. The stone cottages (Casetti) are charged a 60-euro cleaning fee at the end of the stay.
Several rules govern life at the centre: fires and barbecues are strictly forbidden, the tables around the pool cannot be privately reserved for meals, and vehicles are not allowed to circulate within the site between 11pm and 8am, though an outdoor car park remains accessible at all hours. U Furu also offers numerous excursions in the surrounding area, taking in beaches, villages and historic sites.
The area around the pool brings together several sports facilities: a volleyball area, a badminton court and a table-tennis table, complemented by a tennis court on the grounds. In the evening, the U Furu team regularly organises themed evenings for special occasions during the summer period.
The Furcone river is the site’s great asset: its natural pools and waterfalls, one of which is over ten metres high, are discovered by heading up the riverbed or along a parallel path, as far as genuine swirling pools carved into the rock. Hiking enthusiasts will find the wooded Ospedale massif nearby, along with the “Mare a Mare” trail, which crosses the whole island from east to west and passes very close to the centre’s entrance. A riding centre lies 4 km away.
The surrounding area also offers plenty of good outings: the beaches of Pallombaggia and Santa Giulia, about 8 km towards Porto-Vecchio, the coves to the south towards Bonifacio, and Roccapina beach an hour’s drive away. As Corsica is a land of megaliths, several prehistoric sites can be visited in the region (fortresses, tombs, standing-stone alignments), as can the old towns of Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio, perched on its chalk cliffs.
Open from May to mid-October (low season in May, June, September and up to 15 October; high season in July and August).
