Camping de Lalbrade occupies an 80-hectare naturist estate at the heart of the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park, in the commune of Lugagnac, in the Lot. The site is around thirty kilometres from Cahors, whose train station is about 35 kilometres away, with Toulouse airport around a hundred kilometres away. The estate spreads across combes, dry grasslands and limestone cliffs typical of the causse, where protected wild orchids grow; roe deer are regularly seen nearby.
The estate has around fifty shaded pitches under oak trees, complemented by equipped wooden chalets and traditional caravans available for rent. Old stone buildings from the causse, including “garioties” (dry-stone huts), bear witness to the site’s former agricultural use. A natural cave, accessible on the estate, completes the visit. Camping de Lalbrade is rated 2 stars.
Naturism is practised here in a family setting, in a quiet environment, away from any busy road. The estate is affiliated with the Fédération française de naturisme and welcomes families as well as solo visitors or groups, in keeping with the community living rules typical of a naturist centre.
The campsite is generally open from late April to mid-September; rates and stay conditions vary by season. Several facilities on the estate are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “A fully naturist estate, affiliated with the Fédération française de naturisme. Welcoming families, solo visitors and groups, in keeping with the campsite’s community living rules.”
The campsite has a small mini-market for basic supplies, as well as a service offering ready-made dishes and pizzas. Themed evenings are organised throughout the season: wood-fired pizzas on Mondays, baked in a bread oven built on the estate, and meals based on regional produce on Thursdays, in a friendly atmosphere shared by all the campers.
Two outdoor pools, with free, unrestricted access, are open in season in the shade of the estate’s large oak trees. A free sauna is also available, with a sun terrace laid out around the pools.
Wi-Fi, a laundry room and a children’s playground are available to campers, along with a library and communal barbecues. Reception staff speak French and English.
The village of Lugagnac is in the immediate vicinity; the villages of Limogne-en-Quercy and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, with a fuller range of shops and local markets, can be reached by car from the estate. Payment by bank card or holiday vouchers is accepted.
Numerous waymarked hiking trails cross the estate’s 78 to 80 hectares, through combes and dry grasslands typical of the causse. A natural cave, adorned with rock formations, can be visited directly on the estate. In season, night walks to discover the starry sky are offered, as the site lies in an area protected from light pollution. A donkey enclosure can also be visited on site, enjoyed by children and adults alike.
For sport, the campsite offers a tennis court, a pétanque pitch, a volleyball court and table tennis. A common room houses a pool table and a small library, useful on rainy days. Activities and themed evenings punctuate the peak season, with a communal evening organised every week by the campsite team.
Fans of outdoor activities will find climbing on the causse’s limestone cliffs nearby, canoeing and kayaking on the Lot or Célé rivers, and mountain biking on the causse’s many trails. The Lot’s major tourist sites are accessible by car: the Padirac chasm, Cénevières castle, Rocamadour, as well as the villages of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and Limogne-en-Quercy.
Open from late April to mid-September.
