The Arnaoutchot naturist estate spans 45 hectares of pine forest at Vielle-Saint-Girons, in the Landes, between Lake Léon and the Atlantic Ocean. Three access points lead straight from the campsite to a fine sandy naturist beach, without crossing a road.
Rated a 4-star naturist village, the estate functions like a real small village, with shops, restaurants and leisure facilities gathered around a lively centre. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and naturism is practised here with respect for everyone: nudity is compulsory in swimming areas (pools, beach, spa), while a sarong or towel is tolerated elsewhere for modest children and teenagers. Single guests must present a sponsorship or a valid naturist club card. The estate holds the Clef Verte eco-label.
The accommodation offer combines chalets and cottages, canvas bungalows, covered wagons and cabins, some perched in trees, as well as shaded pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. In high season, part of the rental stock is also let from Friday to Friday, alongside the classic weekly formula.
Arnaoutchot is open from 1 April to the end of September, with reception provided in French, English and German. The estate collects feedback from its holidaymakers after each stay, with an average rating above 8.5 out of 10.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Nudity is compulsory in swimming areas (pools, beach, spa). Single guests: a sponsorship or a valid naturist club card is required.”
The heart of the estate brings together several shops: a grocery store, a bakery, a newsagent, a hairdressing salon, a launderette and a first-aid station. The traditional restaurant Le Landais Gourmand offers local cuisine with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, while a pizzeria serves pizzas, burgers, salads and lasagne, to eat in or take away. Two bars complete the offer, one of them overlooking the water area. A weekly producers’ market (crafts, organic produce) enlivens the estate in high season, and a doctor, osteopath, physiotherapist and sophrologist are available by appointment.
The water area brings together three pools: a covered pool heated to 26°C outside the season, with a heated solarium, and two outdoor pools built around a bubble bath. Slides, a paddling pool and a covered water play area complete the offer for younger visitors. The exclusively naturist pools are open from April to the end of September, 10am to 7pm (7:30pm in July-August), with a weekly night opening until 10:30pm in summer; photos and videos are forbidden there. Paid swimming lessons, by reservation, are offered in high season.
The naturist spa Les Bassins d’Arna, set in 5,000 m² of greenery, brings together a sauna, a hammam, bubble baths, four treatment cabins (including one for couples) and a solarium beside a 200 m² ornamental pool. Massages, beauty treatments and hydrotherapy are practised there by appointment; access is reserved for guests over 16. The naturist beach, directly accessible from the estate, is supervised from late June to early September. Bike rental (mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, tandems, trailers) and paid wifi across much of the estate round out the services.
All sports activities are free, except for swimming and surfing lessons. For body relaxation, gymnastics, aqua gym, stretching and qi gong are practised in groups, while a gym room remains accessible on opening days. Facilities include mini-golf, badminton, archery, pétanque, football and basketball, as well as volleyball and beach volleyball. A table tennis table completes the equipment. The Arnasurf School runs surfing and stand-up paddleboarding lessons and courses, by reservation and for a fee. Water olympics and water polo tournaments also punctuate high season, in a friendly atmosphere.
On the nature side, workshops organised in partnership with the ONF (French forestry office) reveal the flora and fauna of the 45 hectares of pine forest, complemented by hikes and a visit to the estate’s permaculture garden. With the Surfrider Foundation, two beach clean-up days are organised each year. Creative workshops (bead jewellery, Brazilian bracelets, basket weaving, painting) and cultural activities, including a library and board games, round out the offer, with themed evenings and music in high season.
For children and teenagers, three structures operate in high season: the Mini-Club (ages 4-6) and the Club Aventure (ages 7-12) in the morning and afternoon, then the Fresh Club for teenagers aged 13 to 17. Junior discos and end-of-stay shows punctuate the programme. Nearby, the Courant d’Huchet can be explored by boat, the Marquèze ecomuseum visited by small train, and golf, canoeing, karting and tree-top adventure parks round out a stay oriented towards the neighbouring Basque Country.
