Domaine du Coq Rouge is located in the Corrèze, in the Dordogne valley, at the crossroads of three departments: the Corrèze, the Lot and the Dordogne. Access is via the Brive road (D38), turning towards Brousse before Noaillac, or via Meyssac, a route considered easier to drive than the one through Collonges-la-Rouge.
The site offers 41 shaded or sunny pitches, 7 of which are reserved for tents, and 29 unusual accommodations, ranging from fully equipped cottages on stilted terraces to unusual lodgings and more traditional rentals such as caravans, cabins or furnished tents. Depending on the model, these accommodations sleep 2 to 6 people, from the 20 m² eco-studio to the larger 35 m² “Tribu” cottages. The centre is rated 4 stars.
Domaine du Coq Rouge presents itself as a family naturist campsite, run by Sandrine and Sébastien and affiliated with the Fédération Française de Naturisme. The establishment champions “slow naturism”: calm, nature and switching off, in a landscaped park overlooking the surrounding valleys.
The season runs from 23 May to 19 September. Reception is open from 8am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm. Arrivals in rental accommodation take place between 3pm and 7pm, and on pitches between 2pm and 7pm, with departures before 10am and before midday respectively.
The bar-restaurant serves simple, home-made food made from short-supply-chain produce and local drinks. The eco-friendly shop sells everyday essentials and souvenirs, with a bakery taking orders the evening before by 6pm, available from 8am the following morning. Wifi is free around reception and the bar.
The heated pool is open from 9am to 8pm: a large pool, a paddling pool and a wellness area with sun loungers. Passing through the foot bath and the shower is compulsory before swimming, and only armbands are allowed as flotation aids for children; water toys (pool noodles, rings) are made available.
A sauna rounds out the wellness offer. For rental accommodation, an end-of-stay cleaning option can be added when booking, otherwise cleaning is the holidaymaker’s responsibility.
Animals are welcome in most accommodations on presentation of a vaccination record, with the exception of exotic pets and category 1 and 2 dogs.
The site offers a fitness area with four machines and a weights corner, volleyball, pétanque and badminton courts, as well as a dog-walking trail. Electric mountain bikes can be hired from a partner, with trails and maps provided, and hiking routes start directly from the campsite.
A mini-farm is home to hens, goats and sheep, and a vegetable garden completes the rustic picture. Children have their own space with games and books, set up in a caravan, while teenagers can enjoy table football, video games and board games.
In season, the site organises a themed evening with a meal, dance evening or concert once or twice a week, as well as a weekly shared meal around a set menu. Canoeing trips on the Dordogne are offered in high season, subject to availability.
The region invites visits: the medieval village of Collonges-la-Rouge, listed among the most beautiful villages in France, Rocamadour with its clifftop religious site, the Gouffre de Padirac and its underground river, or Curemonte and Turenne. The markets of Meyssac (Tuesday and Friday), Martel (Wednesday and Saturday) and Brive (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) are a great way to discover local produce.
Open from 23 May to 19 September.
