In Poulaines, in the Indre department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, Le Rêve de Poulaines combines a small naturist campsite with a bed and breakfast, about twenty minutes from exit 10 of the A20 motorway (Vierzon-Toulouse route) and roughly 250 km south of Paris. Its central location makes it a popular stop, both for an extended stay and for a simple overnight break while travelling.
The friendly, family-run site covers half a hectare planted with fruit trees, with spacious pitches all equipped with a 10-amp electrical connection; tents, caravans and motorhomes are all welcome. The campsite was taken over in October 2025 by Inge and Robyn, who continue its small-scale management, regularly praised by holidaymakers for its warm welcome.
Naturism is practised here with flexibility: freedom, equality and trust are cited as the values of the place, which respects both beginners and those who prefer not to stay naked at all times. The bed and breakfast, located on the upper floor of the owners’ house, joins the campsite’s naturist atmosphere from mid-May to September; the rest of the year, naturist practice remains possible on the grounds whenever the weather allows.
The campsite is open from 14 May to 30 September, the bed and breakfast all year round. Check-in at the campsite is between 2pm and 10pm (3pm to 10pm for the bed and breakfast), with a €20 surcharge between 10pm and midnight; check-out is set at 11am. Day visitors are accepted at the campsite’s individual rate, subject to a phone call in advance.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Family campsite where nudity is not permanently required: beginners and those who prefer to stay dressed part of the time are respected. The bed and breakfast joins the campsite's naturist atmosphere from mid-May to September.”
The small on-site shop stocks essential items, supplemented by a bread delivery service during the camping season and a self-service “honesty bar” for drinks, alcoholic or not, plus a few ice creams. An evening meal is offered daily by booking, served in the communal room in bad weather or on the garden terrace in fine weather; breakfast is always available, at an extra charge for campers (€5 per person under 12, €10 above that age).
The pool with terrace, open until 30 September, remains the heart of the site, surrounded by a children’s play area and sun loungers. Bed and breakfast guests also enjoy it from mid-May, when it joins the campsite section of the grounds.
Massages are offered in partnership with a local provider. Bed and breakfast guests also have access to a shared space with microwave, oven, fridge-freezer and crockery, as well as a lounge corner with board games and books. Wifi is free across the whole site. No electric vehicle charging point is available on site; the nearest are in Rouvres-les-Bois (8 km) or Valençay (9 km), at a cost of €10 per charge.
On site, children enjoy a playground with a playhouse, sandpit, swings and trampoline, a reading and games corner set up under the greenhouse, and bicycles made available to them. Table tennis, table football and pétanque round out the offer, with regular activities such as pétanque tournaments or a music quiz, plus craft workshops or short scavenger hunts organised on site.
A free-picking herb garden supplements the site’s vegetable garden. The owners pass on their practical arrival tips and ideas for visits in the region in a welcome guide handed over after booking.
The campsite makes a good base for exploring the châteaux and estates of the Loire Valley, local markets, several museums in the region, or the Zoo de Beauval, one of the major nearby attractions. The site’s central location, about twenty minutes from the A20 motorway, also allows for wider trips towards Vierzon to the north or towards the Berry and Touraine regions, for a day out.
Campsite open from 14 May to 30 September. Bed and breakfast open all year round.
