Overview

La petite Brenne covers 42 hectares of forest and meadow at the site known as la Grande Métairie, in Luzeret in the Indre, right in the heart of the Brenne regional nature park. The grounds are edged with tall hawthorn, bramble and fern hedges, crossed by a small stream and set off by a pond of around a hectare, typical of the Brenne’s “thousand ponds”. Wildflowers, orchids and a wide variety of birds bring this unspoilt natural setting to life.

Pitch choice is free on arrival: quietly out in nature, on the edge of the woods, or close to the buildings to enjoy the sociable atmosphere of the courtyard, the heart of the campsite, where the terraces, the bar, the chip-and-pizza stand and the restaurant are found, housed in a barn around 200 years old where the chef offers a choice menu and a children’s menu several times a week.

The flat grounds, accessible even to people with reduced mobility, never exceed 150 pitches, even in high season. Two pools, a paddling pool and a wood-fired sauna round out the offer. La petite Brenne carries the Dutch “Prettig Bloot” label (Pleasantly Naked), which commits the site to safety, freedom, respect, openness and hospitality, with a clearly family-oriented approach.

The campsite is open from 20 May to 20 September, with reception hours from 8am to noon and 2pm to 7pm.

What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Campsite carrying the Dutch “Prettig Bloot” label (Pleasantly Naked) from the Dutch naturist federation NFN: safety, freedom, respect, openness and hospitality, with a clearly family-oriented approach (children's menu, children's rates, sauna days for children).”

🧹Cleaning service

The campsite’s courtyard brings together most of the services: a bar with terraces, a chip-and-pizza stand open every evening, and a restaurant housed in an old stone barn, where a chef offers a choice menu and a children’s menu several times a week. Six sanitary blocks are spread across the grounds to stay close to every pitch, and almost the whole site is fitted with 10-amp electrical points, with cables available to rent or buy.

For relaxation, the campsite offers two pools and a paddling pool, as well as a wood-fired sauna, open every day except Saturday, regularly featuring themed days such as a children’s sauna or scrub sessions. Relaxing massages can be booked with one of the campsite’s three masseurs. Wifi, a paid service, covers around 80% of the grounds, with hourly, daily or weekly rates.

Mobile homes and chalets are charged an end-of-stay cleaning fee, and one mobile home is fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. Dogs are not allowed on the campsite. An outdoor car park also allows a caravan to be left on site year-round between stays.

La petite Brenne offers an elaborate activity programme in July and August, supplemented out of season by more occasional activities (massages, sauna days, guided walks, a mosaic workshop). The day’s programme is posted on large boards in front of the bar, and most activities are free; only those requiring costly equipment, such as mosaic, ask for a small contribution.

Horses and donkeys take centre stage: six days out of seven, anyone can go and fetch the animals from the field, brush them and then ride them freely, and two carriages (one for the donkeys, one for ten people pulled by an Arab-Percheron mare) offer free rides. A nearby riding centre also allows forest rides through the Brenne for enthusiasts.

Carp fishing is possible in the estate’s pond (catches of up to 10 kg), as are naturist walks on the grounds and in the surrounding area, accompanied if needed by a French-speaking guide to observe the wildlife and plant life. The sports programme includes football, pétanque, volleyball, running and aquagym, while a music room (piano, guitar, percussion) hosts a weekly music evening. Steatite stone carving and visual arts round out the creative offer, and major events punctuate the season, including a horse show.
