La Chênaie is a 2-star naturist campsite in Anneville-Ambourville, in Seine-Maritime, within a meander of the Seine classified as a Regional Nature Park, halfway between Rouen and Le Havre. The site has welcomed holidaymakers since 1975, at the initiative of André Meire and Lionnel Nouet, founders of the Club des Naturistes Rouennais (CNR), the association that still runs the place today.
The campsite spans about 6 wooded hectares, refurbished every winter by the association’s volunteers. The unnumbered pitches for tents, caravans, motorhomes or vans each accommodate two people. Two caravans for rent (Arum and Rose) and four mobile homes (Mimosa, Coquelicot, Tournesol with a covered wooden terrace, and Lys with an awning) round out the offer.
An FFN licence, or its equivalent issued by a foreign federation, is required of anyone wishing to stay on site. Naturism is practised here in a family spirit: a charter governs communal life and states that nudity carries no sexual connotation. Day visits are limited to guests invited by a camper already on site, or accepted depending on available space.
Reception is open seven days a week, mornings and afternoons, from 17 April to 27 September 2026; the campsite closes entirely for the rest of the year.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “FFN licence, or equivalent issued by a foreign federation, required to stay on site. Nudity, the campsite's rule except in poor weather, carries no sexual connotation; day visits are reserved for guests invited by a camper already on site.”
The heated outdoor pool, 0.90 to 1.70 m deep, has a revamped lounge terrace for a drink or an ice cream by the water. A bar, run by volunteer members of the association, opens every afternoon in season; there is no restaurant on site, but a large communal barbecue lets everyone cook their own meals without setting up a personal barbecue on their pitch.
Wi-Fi is free across the whole site, including in the rentals. The Arum and Rose caravans each come with electricity, a television, a fridge, a microwave and kitchen utensils; the mobile homes offer two separate bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a shower and toilet. End-of-stay cleaning is the guest’s responsibility for all rentals, and bedding is not supplied.
On the wellness side, back massages and facials are offered from time to time, by booking and for an extra charge. The campsite also runs paid themed dinners through the season (suckling pig, cabaret night, disco night, karaoke, end-of-season meal), payable by card at the bar.
The site offers three fixed, freely accessible facilities: an archery range, a minigolf course and a pétanque pitch. A programme of activities, outings and discovery trips is published year-round by the association, alongside the summer entertainment held at the bar and on site.
The campsite sits at the heart of the Boucle d’Anneville, one of the Seine meanders that shape the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Nature Park between Rouen and Le Havre. The limestone cliffs above the river offer several viewpoints over the surroundings, reachable on foot or by bike from the neighbouring villages of the loop: Yville-sur-Seine, Berville-sur-Seine, Bardouville, Mauny and Caumont.
Rouen, with its cathedral and historic centre, is about thirty minutes away by car. The Seine valley is also well suited to hiking along the river and exploring the typical villages of the Boucle, amid orchards, marshes and protected alluvial forests.
Reception open from 17 April to 27 September 2026, seven days a week.
