The Club du Soleil de la Porte Océane (CSPO) is an association under the 1901 French law, founded in 1965 to promote and practise naturism. Its grounds, named “Bois des 40 Acres”, lie in a forest clearing in the town of Yport, in Seine-Maritime, 1.5 km from the beach. The club takes its name from Le Havre, the “Porte Océane” (Ocean Gateway), but its campsite is not located in the city itself: it is actually in Yport, between Fécamp and Étretat.
The site has kept its original wooded character, planted with oaks, chestnuts, beeches and umbrella pines, with an understorey of holly, ferns, ivy and wildflowers that shelters many birds. A 950-metre circular path has been laid out along the existing tracks, and a large communal lodge brings together a kitchen, meeting room and play area.
Access works on three formulas: member, with a club card stamped by the Fédération Française de Naturisme giving access to other affiliated sites; holidaymaker, with the same card and billing per night; or pool only, to make use of just the naturist slot in Le Havre.
The campsite welcomes holidaymakers from mid-May to mid-September; the club itself stays open all year for its members, with a Saturday-morning desk in season.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Association affiliated with the Fédération Française de Naturisme: the FFN-stamped club card is issued to both members and holidaymakers and gives access to other affiliated naturist sites. The club also manages a weekday swimming slot reserved exclusively for naturists, in Le Havre.”
The CSPO’s communal lodge brings together a shared kitchen, a meeting room and a lounge corner fitted with a billiards table, darts and table tennis. A wooden sauna, set up on site, rounds out the wellness offer. Wi-Fi is available across the whole site.
A distinctive feature of the club: it manages a time slot reserved exclusively for naturists at a covered, heated municipal pool in Le Havre, every Friday from 8.30pm to 9.45pm outside school holidays. This pool is in town, at 37 Cours de la République, some distance from the Yport site.
Stays and memberships are paid by card or with holiday vouchers. A desk is staffed on site every Saturday morning, from 10am to midday, from 15 May to 15 September, to handle booking and membership requests without going through the online form. Outside these hours, contact is by phone or email, with the team made up entirely of association volunteers.
On site, leisure stays simple and sociable: billiards, darts and table tennis in the communal lodge, along with exploring the wood itself, with its 950-metre circular path threading between the trees and its discreet wildlife, a haven for many birds.
Yport, a small fishing village turned seaside resort on the Alabaster Coast, long attracted painters and writers seeking calm. Nearby, Fécamp is explored around its harbour, between the cliffs of the Valmont valley, while the world-famous cliffs of Étretat can be walked at low tide as far as the old 17th-century oyster beds and the “Trou à l’Homme”.
Hiking enthusiasts can follow the GR21, which runs along the Alabaster Coast between chalk cliffs and Normandy countryside, offering a contrast of landscapes as far as the outskirts of Le Havre, the Seine valley and the Pont de Normandie towards Honfleur.
Campsite open to holidaymakers from mid-May to mid-September; the club stays open all year for its members.
