Normandy has three naturist campsites, spread across two departments: the Seine-Maritime, with two sites between Rouen, Le Havre and the Alabaster Coast, and the Manche, with a small clothing-optional retreat near Mont-Saint-Michel.
In a loop of the Seine between Rouen and Le Havre, La Chênaie, a 2-star campsite run since 1975 by the Club des Naturistes Rouennais, rents out bare pitches as well as caravans and mobile homes, with an archery range, mini-golf and petanque. On the Alabaster Coast, between Fécamp and Étretat, the Club du Soleil de la Porte Océane, an association founded in 1965, offers three access formulas, from annual membership to simply using the naturist pool in Le Havre. Details of these two campsites can be found on the Seine-Maritime page.
In Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie, an hour from Mont-Saint-Michel, Fern Fields is a small retreat created by Mark and Caroline, who have lived in France since 2020 and personally welcome visitors on this rural site. It is not an association but a sole proprietorship, deliberately limited to a small number of simultaneous stays. The offering ranges from unnumbered grass camping, limited to five groups, to a granite stone cottage open all year round, via five hard-standing pitches for motorhomes and caravans, two furnished bell tents and two equipped caravans for rent. Fern Fields defines itself as a clothing-optional place: everyone chooses whether to stay dressed, undress, or simply observe, with no pressure or complicated rules. The atmosphere aims to be family-friendly, respectful and welcoming to all ages. The site can be explored freely among paths, granite boulders and meadow, with a sun-heated pool and a hot tub; the campsite operates from spring to the end of summer, with only the stone cottage welcoming guests all year round.
For a traditional stay, with rental accommodation near Rouen or Le Havre, the two Seine-Maritime campsites suit best. For a more intimate stay, in a rural setting and a clothing-optional atmosphere, Fern Fields, in the Manche, relies on a personal welcome and everyone's freedom of choice. All three campsites close outside their respective seasons, except for the Fern Fields cottage, open all year round: it's worth checking dates before booking.
In the Seine-Maritime, the Seine loop opens onto Rouen and its cathedral, while the Alabaster Coast, between Fécamp and the cliffs of Étretat, can be explored on foot via the GR21, all the way to the outskirts of Le Havre and the Pont de Normandie.
Around Fern Fields, in the Manche, Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie, a village known for its 'Bleu de Vire' granite, can be visited at the Parc-Musée du Granit, with its demonstration quarry and sculpture park. Vire and its Porte de l'Horloge can be reached in around twenty minutes, Avranches and its Jardin des Plantes in half an hour, the medieval town of Domfront in 40 minutes, and Mont-Saint-Michel in around an hour's drive. The Manche also has two official naturist beaches: the Pointe d'Agon, in Agon-Coutainville, in a protected natural site where swimming remains banned by municipal order, and the Pointe du Banc, in Saint-Germain-sur-Ay, with its 300-metre marked naturist zone.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
