Established in 1967, Le Club du Soleil de Touraine occupies 8 hectares of woodland at the site known as Bois des Forges, in the municipality of Cléré-les-Pins, in the Indre-et-Loire, 25 kilometres from Tours. The campsite is rated 2 stars, approved by the Fédération française de naturisme and affiliated with the Fédération française de camping et de caravaning.
It is first and foremost a members’ club, open year-round to its members, but it also welcomes non-member holidaymakers during the season, from 7 June to 6 September 2026, with fixed reception hours. Thirty pitches and three rooms for rent, one of them adapted for wheelchair users, are offered at a rate specific to holidaymakers, separate from the membership fee.
The site has an unsupervised heated pool with a paddling pool for younger children, redone in 2023, as well as a playground, a ten-hole mini-golf course and a pétanque pitch. Free Wi-Fi covers a limited area around the Place du 14 Juillet, the hub of the club’s communal life.
Club life continues outside the season for members, with regular fixtures such as Twelfth Night cake in January or cycling outings in May, and volunteer work days to maintain the site.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Club approved by the Fédération française de naturisme. Membership is not required for a simple holiday stay: a rate specific to non-member holidaymakers is displayed for pitches and rooms, in season.”
The campsite reception is open from 8.30am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 7pm during the holidaymaker season. A washing machine and a tumble dryer are available at the main sanitary block, accessible on simple request at reception.
People with reduced mobility can use two dedicated pitches, easily accessible and close to the facilities, where the car can stay parked. An adapted sanitary block offers a shower with a seat, Western-style toilets, a cold-water basin for washing clothes and accessible sinks for washing dishes; the ‘Écureuil’ room is specifically fitted out for wheelchair users.
The club also has a library and two wooden accommodations, the Petit Home and the Grand Home, the latter fitted with a wood-burning fireplace. Pets are allowed on pitches, limited to one per stay, kept on a lead and with an up-to-date health record. Holiday vouchers are accepted for payment of the stay.
In season, the club offers pétanque and Mölkky tournaments, table tennis, volleyball, palet and a ten-hole mini-golf course. Aqua gym and gentle gymnastics round out a more sporty offer, while walks allow guests to explore the wooded surroundings of the Bois des Forges.
Communal life is punctuated by friendly gatherings: a meal and dance on 14 July, a torchlight procession with lantern-making beforehand, a dance evening on 15 August, and card game (belote) tournaments among members. Outside the season, the club continues its calendar of events with Twelfth Night cake in January, a pancake afternoon in February, a hike in April and a cycling outing in May, alongside volunteer maintenance days organised once a month to look after the site.
Nearby, the Loire Valley offers plenty to explore for holidaymakers: Loire Valley châteaux, the banks of the Loire, local markets and the Touraine wine route, less than half an hour’s drive from Tours.
Campsite open to holidaymakers from 7 June to 6 September; club open year-round for its members.
