Founded in 1930, the Club Gymnique de France is a naturist association of around 200 members of all ages, affiliated with the Fédération française de naturisme (FFN). Set in the Bois d’Auteuil, at Villecresnes in the Val-de-Marne, the grounds cover 13 hectares less than 30 minutes by car from Paris: it is the naturist club closest to the capital.
Access is reserved for FFN licence holders; visitors without an annual licence can buy a federal day pass. The club explicitly states that it is not a swingers’ club, and that any inappropriate behaviour results in permanent exclusion.
The naturism practised at CGF is family-friendly and sociable. The grounds include pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, along with a few accommodation options, to be booked directly with reception.
The club is open to campers from May to September, with daily reception hours from 10am to 5pm; visitors may stay until 8pm. Identification is requested on a first visit, and the club closes over winter.
It is accessible by public transport from Paris: RER A to Boissy-Saint-Léger or metro line 8 to Pointe du Lac, then bus 23 to the Mélanie Bonis stop, about a hundred metres from the entrance.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Club affiliated with the FFN: annual licence or federal day pass required. The club states that it is not a swingers' club; any inappropriate behaviour results in permanent exclusion.”
CGF’s sports facilities include a heated pool of around 25 metres, pétanque, tennis, volleyball and badminton courts, a table-tennis table, a sauna, a trampoline and a sports room. Around the pool, sunny and shaded areas let everyone enjoy the site at their own pace, including near the pitches set beneath the trees.
There is no restaurant on site, but a large barbecue is available for picnics, along with fridges. The snack bar, nicknamed “la Nuvette”, serves cold drinks, ice cream and coffee.
Campers and motorhome owners can book a pitch by contacting reception, which also manages the few accommodation options available on the grounds; an electrical hook-up is offered to those who want one.
The club is a 15-minute walk from a Carrefour City supermarket, and the Villecresnes market is held on Thursday and Sunday mornings on the village square.
CGF organises several sporting events throughout the year, such as archery competitions on its range, also open to day visitors, or an annual pétanque tournament in summer, open to all levels. The tennis, volleyball and badminton courts, as well as the table-tennis table, are freely available to members and visitors.
Club life is punctuated by “Nuvette” evenings, potluck-style shared meals around different themes (a Brazilian evening, a Caribbean evening), as well as the traditional “newcomers’ drinks”, which bring together long-standing and new members at the start of the season.
The club also hosts one-off events: an outdoor sound therapy session, an evening to observe an eclipse, or the “Madame Naturiste” gatherings, aimed at women hesitant to discover this way of life; the trampoline draws young and old alike during the day.
The season ends with a convivial closing evening, with a shared meal and live music, in the family spirit that has defined the club since it was founded in 1930.
Campsite open from May to September; club closed over winter.
