Lous Suais is located in Cheissoux, in the Haute-Vienne, in the Limousin, on the edge of the Millevaches Regional Nature Park. The nearest shops are in Bujaleuf, 4 kilometres away, supermarkets and the petrol station 14 kilometres away, Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat with its medieval town around fifteen kilometres away, and Limoges, with its famous porcelain workshops, around 30 kilometres away.
The estate covers nearly 7 hectares, on the edge of a large lake, Lac de la Maulde, located between two hydroelectric dams and reserved for campers and anglers. Floating pontoons allow guests to swim or sunbathe in peace, and the water quality, checked monthly by the Ministry of Health’s services, has been rated excellent for years. The hilly, wooded grounds offer very varied pitches, ranging from close to the lake to more secluded, higher spots.
Lous Suais presents itself as a family naturist site where nudity, encouraged whenever the weather allows, remains optional outside the swimming areas and showers, where it is compulsory for everyone, teenagers included. Single men or women, couples, friends and families are all welcomed without restriction or distinction based on origin, skin colour or sexual orientation.
The campsite is open from 1 May to 15 October. The chalets, on the other hand, are rented year-round, with short stays possible in the low season on request by phone or email, and weekly rentals from Saturday to Saturday in high season.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Family naturist site: nudity encouraged but optional outside the swimming areas and showers, where it is compulsory for everyone, teenagers included. Single men and women are explicitly welcome, as are couples and families.”
Two sanitary blocks serve the campsite, with sinks for washing dishes, free hot showers accessible 24/7 and washbasins, toilet paper provided; additional toilets are located near the lake. Lous Suais also acts as a UPS pick-up point year-round, and becomes an official La Poste relay point in summer.
For catering, the bar operates on request outside high season and opens daily from July to the end of August; coffee, tea or hot chocolate are offered free each morning during the quieter months. A snack bar and shared meals between campers regularly round out the offering. Bread is delivered on request in low season, and bread and pastries are brought every morning from the height of summer onward.
A free wifi zone, accessible 24/7 near the entrance, allows guests to check their messages, with a speed limited by the site’s remote location. The campsite also has a washing machine and a coin-operated dryer, as well as special dump points for motorhome cassette toilets.
Dogs and cats are allowed on pitches, provided they are vaccinated and kept on a lead, but not in rental accommodation; their access to the beach is forbidden, with a water point reserved for them elsewhere on the grounds.
The lake’s large natural swimming area is the heart of the activities: guests swim there, sunbathe on the floating pontoons, and can rent a pedal boat, paddleboard, electric paddleboard or kayak, or bring their own craft. On the water, life jackets must be worn at all times during these water sports activities, and nudity is required from the terrace right down to the lake, floating pontoons included.
Fishing enthusiasts can buy their licence directly at reception, which also has the necessary equipment; the lake, between its two dams, is open only to campers and anglers. Depending on the season, the campsite also offers exhibitions, shows, food-themed events and sports activities, with the full programme available at reception.
Nearby, the Millevaches Regional Nature Park invites hiking and mountain biking through a hilly landscape of woods and ponds. On Wednesday mornings, a small market is held in Cheissoux, complemented by markets in neighbouring villages throughout the week and, in high season, by numerous flea markets and themed fairs. Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat with its medieval town, then Limoges with its famous porcelain, round out the possible outings from the campsite.
Campsite open from 1 May to 15 October, chalets rented year-round.
