Overview

Le Couderc is a family-friendly naturist campsite in Naussannes, in the Dordogne, about twenty minutes from Bergerac. The site occupies a 33-hectare valley, with a natural spring, a stream and two ponds, at the heart of the Périgord’s vineyards and bastide towns.

Naturism has been practised here for over 35 years, with no licence required: the campsite welcomes all naturists, licensed or not, as long as they respect its code of conduct (tolerance, respect for nudity, and rejection of any voyeuristic or exhibitionist behaviour). Swimming is done nude in the pool; self-conscious teenagers may cover themselves with a towel or sarong, but swimwear is not tolerated when the weather allows nudity.

The 172 pitches, each at least 120 m² and all connected to electricity, spread across several meadows with different atmospheres, from the family meadow near the stream and its small beach to the truffle wood shaded by century-old oaks. Four recent sanitary blocks complete the site, with facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility.

The campsite is open from 15 April to 15 October. A simplified option also allows for a winter stay, in a heated chalet or a self-sufficient motorhome, from 15 October to 15 April.

What the site says about its approach to naturism: “No licence is required: the campsite applies its own charter (tolerance, respect for nudity, rejection of voyeurism and exhibitionism). Swimming is nude in the pool, with tolerance for self-conscious teenagers, who may cover themselves with a towel or sarong.”

Le Couderc brings together a restaurant with a varied menu (vegetarian dishes, Périgord specialities, children’s menus), a bar set in a 16th-century barn with a library, board games and musical instruments, and a pizzeria-snack bar for takeaway or terrace dining. A small shop sells fruit and vegetables, dairy products and fresh bread every morning, as well as postcards, stamps and laundry tokens.

The large pool, heated by solar panels, is complemented by a jacuzzi and a paddling pool for the youngest. The sauna and the 12 m² hammam, both free and open every day, are housed in the same building as a massage room and hot and cold showers.

Free, code-free wifi is available via fibre optic from every pitch. The campsite also has four electric vehicle charging points, a motorhome service area, fridges for hire and baby equipment (high chair, travel cot) lent free of charge. A shuttle connects the station and Bergerac airport, and every new arrival is welcomed with a drink between 9am and 10pm. The four sanitary blocks, two chalets and an equipped safari tent are accessible to people with reduced mobility; pitches are also reserved for them.

On site, pétanque tournaments bring campers together three times a week on the eight dedicated courts, with a bottle of the campsite’s wine as the prize. In summer, football and volleyball matches and table tennis tournaments are organised regularly, alongside a fitness trail and trampolines. A children’s club offers creative activities every day in high season (cutting, collage, painting), and Monday is reserved for theme days for the youngest.

Evenings also set the pace of a stay: Pub Quiz every Monday, Open Podium on Wednesday (singing, theatre, instruments provided), dance evenings or theme dinners depending on the season, not forgetting the Night of the Ghosts and the fireworks on 14 July.

Nearby, five châteaux and several bastide towns of the Périgord, including Sarlat and La Roque-Gageac, are just a few kilometres away, as are the prehistoric caves of Les Eyzies and Lascaux, under an hour’s drive. The campsite also lists a riding centre 4 kilometres away, a tennis court 8 kilometres away, a 9-hole golf course 20 minutes away, a treetop adventure course at Parc-en-ciel, and canoe trips on the Dordogne and Vézère rivers. Village markets and the vineyards of Bergerac, with their tastings, round out the programme.
