Five naturist campsites are located in the Dordogne, most of them in the Périgord noir, amid forests, old farmhouses and stretches of water.
Le Coteau de l'Herm, at Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac, covers 8 hectares. It features a swimming pool, a Finnish Kota sauna, as well as small homes, chalets and caravans. A member of the NFN federation, the campsite offers sanitary facilities accessible to people with reduced mobility. Not far away, Terme d'Astor, at Saint-Avit-Rivière, occupies 20 hectares of forest within a former 17th-century farmhouse. Rated 3 stars, this family-friendly site provides a pool, jacuzzi and sauna, welcomes pets and offers a wheelchair-adapted chalet.
Le Couderc, at Naussannes, rated 4 stars, has 172 pitches over 33 hectares. A heated pool, jacuzzi and paddling pool sit alongside a free sauna and hammam, open daily from 15 April to 15 October. At Saint-Géraud-de-Corps, Chaudeau, rated 3 stars, covers 50 hectares with 165 pitches and a 200m² pool. Its warm-spring lake, four waymarked forest trails and summer activities, carnival and cabaret, round out an offer designed for families.
Petits-Fours, at Busserolles, occupies 16 hectares of forest and wetland, with a 10 by 15 metre natural swimming pool and spacious pitches with private areas.
For a peaceful stay, amid forest and heritage, Le Coteau de l'Herm and Terme d'Astor suit lovers of nature and historic buildings. For family holidays, Le Couderc and Chaudeau offer more comfort and activities. Petits-Fours remains a more low-key option, for those seeking a preserved setting. The five sites are located in the Périgord, close to the Lot and the Gironde, other départements of regional naturism. Check the opening season and availability with each campsite before booking.
The Dordogne is best discovered through its decorated caves and the bastide towns of the Périgord noir. From Rouffignac, the Rouffignac cave, known as the 'cave of the hundred mammoths', is visited by electric train and holds one of the largest concentrations of cave paintings in the region. A little further on, Lascaux IV, at the Centre international de l'art pariétal, offers a facsimile of the most famous prehistoric sanctuary, near Montignac.
Sarlat-la-Canéda, a medieval town with pale stone facades, remains the classic starting point for exploring the bastides and châteaux overlooking the valley, between Beynac and La Roque-Gageac. The Gouffre de Proumeyssac, nicknamed the 'crystal cathedral', completes the list of remarkable natural sites in the area.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
