Le Mérou is a family-run, 3-star naturist campsite set on the Causse de Limogne, in Tarn-et-Garonne, on the border of the Lot and the Aveyron. The 5-hectare estate lies 10 kilometres from Caylus, a small medieval town, and 35 kilometres south of Cahors; access, easy for caravans and motorhomes up to 7 metres, is half an hour from the A20 motorway. Bert and Mia Angenent have run the campsite for seventeen years.
The 22 pitches, each at least 130 m², are spread across three different areas, under trees or in open fields with views over the countryside; most have an electrical hook-up, and a woodland clearing remains open to tents and folding caravans. Three types of accommodation are also available to rent: a mobile home, a safari tent and a cabin.
Naturism here is practised as a family, on a naturally enclosed site where children can move around freely, right up to teenagers, for whom a dedicated area is set aside. The campsite offers preferential rates to members of the Dutch naturist federation NFN, outside high season.
In 2026 the campsite is open from 23 May to 25 September (the mobile home remains available to rent all year round), and the swimming pool opens from 1 June. Dogs are only accepted with prior agreement.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “A family-run naturist campsite, run by Bert and Mia Angenent for seventeen years. The website makes no mention of any licence requirement, but offers preferential rates to members of the Dutch naturist federation NFN.”
The campsite provides a south-facing swimming pool with sun loungers, a sauna, and a central building, the “bergerie” (sheepfold), which brings together a bar, a library, board games and two terraces, including a covered terrace with an outdoor bar. A defibrillator is installed on the site.
As for sanitary facilities: six hot showers, four washbasins and four hot-water dishwashing points, a laundry point, five toilets, an adapted shower and toilet for people with reduced mobility, a baby bath, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a spin dryer, a microwave and a freezer; a chemical toilet emptying point is also provided.
For dining: a bar (closed on Wednesday evenings) serves local draught beer, wines, coffees and teas; a shared table brings holidaymakers together at least once a week from June to September, with a menu of at least three courses; a communal barbecue is held on Sundays, with everyone bringing their own meat, vegetables or fish; a snack bar offers chips, nuggets, pizzas and leek tarts, along with ice creams. Once a week in high season, a “children’s restaurant” (for under-18s only) serves a three-course menu, or gives way to a campfire with soup, hot dogs and marshmallows.
The site, equivalent to seven football pitches, has a pétanque court, a table-tennis table, swings, spring riders, a sandpit, a wooded area with cabins and a trampoline; a dedicated corner also caters to teenagers. A weekly communal swim with a bombing contest livens up the summer evenings.
For children, a treasure hunt with fourteen photos of the site to find, along with activities to order (improvised circus, drawing competition, treasure hunt, dance afternoon), are offered on request.
Nearby, Caylus and the medieval villages of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, Cordes-sur-Ciel, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Najac can be visited in a day, as can the châteaux of Reine Margot in Saint-Projet and of Cas in Espinas. The campsite works with a local provider for canoeing, mountain biking, archery, caving or paddleboarding, and also points to the Najac adventure park, the Cahors karting track, the Montauban Aquapark and the Phosphatières du Cloup d’Aural, a fossil site 30 million years old. Dozens of walking and cycling routes, selected by the owners on the Komoot app, along with a geocache set up on the site itself, invite exploration of the region, made up of wooded valleys and sweeping views over the causse.
Open from 23 May to 25 September 2026; swimming pool open from 1 June.
