Overview

Domaine de la Sablière occupies a steep site in the Cèze gorges, at Saint-Privat-de-Champclos, within the commune of Barjac (Gard), on the border between Provence and Occitania. This naturist village, in operation for over 50 years, is set in terraces on the hillside above the river.

Naturism is practised here in a family atmosphere, with respect for everyone. The site brings together 504 pitches and accommodations, with a very wide choice of formats: air-conditioned mobile homes, wooden chalets (several with valley views), furnished ecolodge-style tents, and bare pitches or pitches with an electrical hook-up and private sanitary facilities. One model, the LIFE, is specially fitted out for people with reduced mobility, with a worktop at an adapted height, a walk-in shower and a sloped, accessible terrace. Camping pitches come with or without an electrical hook-up, some also featuring private sanitary facilities (toilet, shower, washbasin) and a small fridge.

The location in the Cèze gorges puts several sites within easy reach: canoe trips on the Cèze start 15 minutes away, the Pont d’Arc is 25 minutes away, as is the Salamandre cave, and the small Cévennes tourist train is 45 minutes away.

Rated 4 stars, the village opens for the 2026 season from 7 May to 20 September, with a minimum stay of 2 nights in the accommodations.

What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Family naturism practised with respect for everyone; the village has been operating for over 50 years.”

The water park, built into the hillside with valley views, combines a heated indoor pool with a retractable dome and a heated outdoor pool. Two water slides, the Double Slide and the spectacular Spacebowl, plus a large paddling pool with water games, round out the offering for children. Further down, two landscaped private beaches, “Mésange” and “Fauvette”, give direct access to the waters of the Cèze, amid rock faces and natural river bends.

Life at the village centres on Eden Roc, the central square overlooking the valley: the bar-restaurant of the same name serves seasonal cuisine made with local produce, along with a cocktail menu. The snack bar “Les Comptoirs de la Cèze” offers pizzas and takeaway dishes, and the beach bar “Le Khunu” livens up summer evenings in July and August. The village’s small supermarket stocks fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, pastries and a selection of regional and organic products.

For relaxation, a sauna and a wellness and beauty area (massages, facials, manicures, pedicures) are available on site, along with a tattoo studio. The village also has a mini-golf course, a tennis court and a fitness room. Pets are welcome, except dogs classed in categories 1 and 2: they must be vaccinated and kept on a lead, with a maximum of two per accommodation, for an additional charge.

The village’s free activity programme is designed for all ages: hiking, fitness sessions, craft workshops (silk painting, drawing, body painting) and themed or festive evenings fill the week during peak season. A children’s club welcomes ages 4 to 12, and a dedicated club looks after teenagers, so everyone finds a programme suited to them while parents enjoy the village.

The Cèze river, which runs alongside the village, can also be explored by paddle: canoe trips start just 15 minutes from reception, amid cliffs and river bends. On site, the two private beaches provide direct access to the water for free swimming or simply enjoying the natural setting, surrounded by the rock faces characteristic of the Cèze gorges. The wild character of the site, between river bends and rocky cliffs, makes this stretch of river a popular swimming spot for families and lovers of relaxation alike.

The gorges of the Gard and the neighbouring Ardèche also invite visitors beyond the village: the Pont d’Arc site is 25 minutes away, as is the Salamandre cave, a decorated cave open to visitors. For a family outing, the small Cévennes tourist train, 45 minutes away, rounds out the excursion options around the campsite.
