Founded in 1956 by brothers René and Paul Oltra, former winegrowers, the centre was one of the very first places dedicated to naturism on the Mediterranean coast. Officially becoming naturist in 1973, it now forms a campsite rated 4 stars, integrated into the naturist village of Cap d’Agde, in the Hérault, just 100 metres from the beach.
The site covers 39 hectares of wooded park, planted with Mediterranean tree species and bordered to the north and east by the Bagnas nature reserve. The range of accommodation is particularly wide: bare or equipped pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, but also mobile homes, coloured chalets, wooden cabins in the Notus village or upmarket cottages in Pearl Village, joined in 2026 by a new premium mobile home village, Poséidon.
The stated atmosphere is family oriented and friendly, with a mini-club and a teen club supervised by activity leaders, and a stated partnership with the Fédération française de naturisme. In 2026, for its 70th anniversary, the centre becomes the Cité Naturiste Hélio-Marine and declares itself a mission-led company under the PACTE law.
The campsite opens each year from 15 March to 15 October. Access to the site requires an entry card for the naturist village of Cap d’Agde, separate from the stay booking.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “The centre is part of the naturist village of Cap d'Agde: a specific entry card is required in addition to the stay booking. The stated orientation is family oriented, with a stated partnership with the Fédération française de naturisme.”
Reception operates 7 days a week while the campsite is open, with extended hours in mid and high season. The centre has a 370 m² gym fitted with the latest equipment, with free group classes (strength training, cardio, yoga) and a wellness area with sauna, hammam and massage lounge. A free-access multilingual library rounds out the offer, as does Wi-Fi, now free across the whole site.
Holidaymakers also have access to launderettes with tumble dryers, a cash machine, gas sales at reception and an electric vehicle charging point at the entrance. The centre is guarded 24 hours a day by a security team, and a nurse is present at reception from May onward. Twenty-eight sanitary blocks are spread across the site, most fitted with disabled access and one with a baby area including a nursery.
For dining, the seafront restaurant Paralia Le Sun Beach offers a menu in season, right on the beach. To get around without a car, pedal cars (rosalies) are lent free of charge on sign-up.
Petanque remains the centre’s unifying activity, played by regulars and newcomers alike. The free-to-use Espace Cosmos brings together table tennis tables, a multi-sports pitch, outdoor fitness stations and a pump track for bikes, skateboards, roller skates or scooters.
For children aged 5 to 12, the Mini-Club offers craft workshops, group games and nature discovery sessions at the Espace Nature, while the Club Ados welcomes 13 to 17 year olds for sports and creative activities supervised by activity leaders. An open playground rounds out these areas. The campsite’s community vegetable garden can be visited freely or during organised outings with the Mini-Club, which harvests vegetables and herbs there.
The Bagnas nature reserve, which borders the campsite to the north and east, can be observed from a wooden viewpoint set up on the Espace Nature side, with binoculars available to spot egrets, herons or birds of prey. Towards the sea, the supervised naturist beach stretches over more than two kilometres of fine sand, directly accessible from the campsite. In season, themed evenings and special events run through July and August, stepped up in 2026 for the centre’s 70th anniversary.
Open from 15 March to 15 October.
