Ulysse is part of the Leucate naturist village, in the town of Port-Leucate, in the Aude department. This area, entirely dedicated to naturism, brings together seven residences on the Mediterranean shore (Oasis, Aphrodite, Éden, les Jardins de Vénus, le Mas de la Plage, les Maisons de la Jetée and Ulysse) across around 45 hectares. The Ulysse residence itself was built as early as 1968 on about 4 hectares facing the sea: it was the very first construction in the village, before being offered for rental by Pierre & Vacances from 1982 onwards.
Today the site combines a naturist tourist residence, with studios and apartments, and a separate campsite: the Camping de Port-Leucate, owned by the Groupement des Campeurs Universitaires (GCU). Set on around 2.2 hectares at the heart of the Ulysse village, it offers 83 flat, sandy pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with little shade but just steps from the sea, as well as two recent mobile-home cabins. This campsite is reserved exclusively for naturists and is open from 29 April to 27 September 2026.
Both the residence and the campsite give direct access to the village’s naturist beach, about a kilometre long and supervised in season, just fifty metres or so from the pitches. This beach has already featured in a world ranking of the most beautiful naturist beaches.
The stay is suited to couples as well as families with children, in the friendly atmosphere typical of the Leucate naturist villages.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “The Port-Leucate campsite is reserved exclusively for naturists. The residence and campsite give direct access to the village's supervised naturist beach, about fifty metres away.”
At the Ulysse residence, the restaurant Le Pénélope serves as restaurant, bar and ice cream parlour, also selling bread and pastries. Close by, in the neighbouring Aphrodite residence, about 500 metres away, there is a mini-market, a bakery-pâtisserie, a newsagent, hairdressing and beauty salons, as well as several naturist tourism agencies.
For relaxation, the residence has a pool and a sun terrace, open to both residents and campers from the neighbouring site. The GCU campsite also provides its own facilities on its 2.2-hectare grounds: sanitary blocks, a children’s play area and quick, direct access to the supervised naturist beach, about 50 metres from the pitches.
The campsite’s two mobile-home cabins, a recent model installed in 2023, offer a turnkey stay with an equipped kitchen, bedrooms and a terrace, for holidaymakers who would rather not camp in a tent or caravan. Parking is in a private car park within the village, keeping cars away from the naturist site’s pedestrian paths.
The campsite and residence give access to the site’s sports facilities: a tennis court, a table-tennis table and several pétanque pitches, in addition to the pool and the nearby supervised naturist beach. Club Ulysse Nature brings the village to life in season: pool games and water polo, beach games such as sack races or tug of war, a weekly pétanque tournament open to all residents of the area, and barbecue evenings with free sangria every Friday between 14 July and 15 August. Themed evenings are also held at the Le Pénélope restaurant.
The club also runs outings led by volunteers: walks in the Corbières massif on Wednesday mornings, mountain-biking outings on Monday mornings tailored to participants’ level, and occasional cultural outings to concerts, exhibitions or heritage sites in the region.
Nearby, Leucate offers a safe 10-kilometre cycle network linking the village, Port-Leucate, Leucate-Plage and La Franqui, as well as a hiking trail along the limestone cliff to La Franqui. The Leucate-Salses lagoon, a Ramsar-listed site, attracts birdwatchers, and the La Franqui spots are renowned for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
Campsite open from 29 April to 27 September 2026.
