Gers has two family naturist campsites, both set on estates of twenty to twenty-six hectares, deep in the Gers countryside: Domaine de Sarraute, in Le Houga, and Domaine Devèze, in Gaudonville.
Domaine de Sarraute, a 3-star naturist campsite bought and rebuilt by a family in 1997, spans 26 hectares between meadows, woodland and a bamboo grove. Its 33 pitches, all at least 150 m², surround a south-facing pool shaded by large trees; the estate has run on renewable electricity from Enercoop since 2016. Domaine Devèze, in Gaudonville, open since 1966, covers 20 hectares by a 1.7-hectare lake, with its own outdoor pool. The activity programme is particularly full: archery, tchoukball and astronomy evenings punctuate the stay.
For a peaceful stay, with large pitches and a strong environmental approach, Domaine de Sarraute, in Le Houga, suits environmentally conscious families. For a livelier stay, with swimming in the lake and pool and a varied activity programme, Domaine Devèze, in Gaudonville, the elder of the two campsites since 1966, offers more entertainment. Both estates lie in the Gers countryside, between Armagnac and Astarac, far from the tourist bustle and the large coastal resorts. Both focus on a family welcome, a green setting and naturist holidays at the peaceful pace of the Gers countryside, far from the crowds of the large naturist resorts on the Mediterranean coast, between Toulouse and the Atlantic.
Le Houga lies in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, the production area for the brandy of the same name: traditional farms, stills and ageing cellars can be visited nearby, particularly around Condom, the quintessential town of Armagnac. The local heritage can also be discovered through the chapels of Toujun and Saint-Aubin and the neo-Gothic church of Saint-Pierre, with its remarkable stained-glass windows.
From Gaudonville, Auch, the prefecture of Gers and a historic stage on the Way of St James, is worth visiting for its Sainte-Marie cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its monumental staircase. Gers, a land of bastide towns and vineyards, can also be explored by bike, between small villages, producers’ markets and farm inns serving foie gras, duck breast and Armagnac, the emblematic specialities of Gascony.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
