Tucked away in the heart of the Cévennes, in the Cèze gorges, Domaine de La Genèse extends across the commune of Méjannes-le-Clap, in the Gard, south of the Ardèche, in a region marked by Roman history (the Pont du Gard, and the Nîmes arena not far away). The estate covers 26 hectares of unspoilt nature, directly on the riverbank; the nearest train station is Nîmes or Montpellier Saint-Roch, and Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes and Montpellier Méditerranée airports are also accessible by car.
The estate has around 490 pitches, as well as mobile homes, chalets and equipped tents available for rent. Its naturist beach runs along the Cèze for more than 800 metres, alternating between pebbles and sand depending on the section. Domaine de La Genèse is rated 3 stars.
Naturism is practised here in full: nudity is compulsory at the pool and showers, with tolerance for newcomers and teenagers elsewhere on the estate. The campsite is approved by the Fédération française de naturisme and gives priority to families, in keeping with the naturist charter.
The estate is open from 17 April to 27 September 2026. Some of the communal facilities and three sanitary blocks are accessible to people with reduced mobility; not all rental accommodations are.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Full nudity compulsory at the pool and showers; tolerance with a sarong for newcomers and teenagers elsewhere on the estate. Estate approved by the Fédération française de naturisme.”
The estate’s restaurant, open from April to the end of September, offers dishes to eat on site or take away, as well as pizzas and themed evenings (mussels and chips, paella). A grocery shop offers bread and pastries made on site, fresh produce, and a drugstore and general goods section.
A wellness area offers massages daily by appointment, as well as beauty and hairdressing treatments in July and August. The Barlaba, the estate’s bar, welcomes campers at the end of the day for an ice cream or a cold drink, ahead of the concerts and evening events held on its stage.
The pool, heated to 28°C, is open daily from 9am to 8pm and supervised by a lifeguard in July and August; it is complemented by a water slide and a paddling pool reserved for 0 to 4-year-olds, with aquagym classes in season. A laundry room fitted with a washing machine and a dryer is accessible near reception, and a night watch service operates in July and August.
The grocery shop also offers light clothing and sarongs, as well as beach equipment. Payment at the laundry room is possible by bank card or via the campsite’s app.
The Cèze runs alongside the estate for more than 800 metres, with pebble and sand zones depending on the section; depths vary, and in some spots you can no longer stand. Three canoes are provided free of charge to campers for paddling upriver, and fishing is practised there (minnows, bleak, carp, roach, trout), away from the swimming area.
The estate offers a tennis court, volleyball and pétanque courts, table tennis, mini-golf, an archery range accessible from age 8, as well as water polo tournaments in season. A sports coach leads a morning warm-up session every day, and aquagym classes are offered at the pool.
The children’s club “Les P’tits malins”, for ages 4 to 12, and the teen club for ages 13 to 17, run in July and August, supervised by activity leaders. A playground with an inflatable structure, trampoline and climbing wall rounds out the offering. In the evening, concerts, shows and open-air cinema bring the estate to life around the Barlaba, with a library and board games freely available.
Nearby, the Pont du Gard, the Nîmes arena and the Maison Carrée bear witness to the Roman presence in the region.
