Created in 1987 by Jeanne and Gilles, Le Mas de Lignières is a family naturist centre approved by the Fédération française de naturisme and rated 3 stars by the Hérault prefecture. It occupies 6 hectares on the south-facing slope of a small limestone plateau, at 280 metres altitude, amid garrigue scrubland, plain and Minervois vineyards, in Cesseras, about 3 kilometres from the fortified medieval village of Minerve.
The number of pitches is deliberately limited: 28 pitches for caravans and motorhomes, several rated ‘grand confort’ with areas of up to 200 m², bordered by living hedges and connected to water, 6-amp electricity and mains drainage. Six rental accommodations round out the offer for holidaymakers without their own camping equipment. The site’s due-south orientation gives it strong sunshine all year round, with open views over the garrigue and surrounding hills.
The naturism practised here is family oriented and friendly: Jeanne personally welcomes holidaymakers, in a peaceful setting surrounded by wild nature, flora and fauna typical of the Mediterranean limestone plateau and the garrigue of the Hérault.
The centre opens each year from late May to late September. Booking a pitch or a rental accommodation is required, by phone or email, before any arrival on site.
What the site says about its approach to naturism: “Family naturist centre approved by the FFN since 1987, with a peaceful and friendly atmosphere; hosted directly by the site's owners.”
The main sanitary block includes solar showers, a chemical toilet disposal point, toilets, washbasins and a hairdryer, complemented by cold outdoor showers spread across the site. A bathroom is fitted out for people with reduced mobility, and a baby area offers a bath and a changing table. A laundry room is equipped with a washing machine, an iron and an ironing board, and bed linen rental is available for stays in a rental accommodation.
On site, a snack bar with a terrace serves as a meeting point for holidaymakers, complemented by a small library in the shared spaces. Wi-Fi covers these shared spaces, but not the pitches themselves. The owners also provide year-round caravan storage supervision for regulars who return from one season to the next.
The centre has a pool with a sliding cover and a paddling pool for younger children, reserved for holidaymakers staying on site. Individual barbecues are tolerated provided they run on gas.
On site, holidaymakers have access to a free tennis court, a lit pétanque pitch, a table tennis table, table football and board games such as chess. A playground and a games room round out the offer for children.
Nearby, the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park and the Minervois massif are well suited to guided hikes with a qualified mountain guide, as well as mountain biking and cycle touring. Horse riding can be practised at nearby riding centres, and Lake Jouarès, around ten kilometres away, is suitable for windsurfing. Thrill-seekers can try climbing or shooting, or even a taster flight at a flying club. The Canal du Midi, around Castelnaudary, can be explored by hire boat, and the fortified medieval village of Minerve, 3 kilometres away, is well worth a visit. The Mediterranean coast, around Narbonne-Plage, remains within reach for a day trip.
Open from late May to late September.
