From this level upward, the minimum pitch size rises to 80 m², compared to 70 m² at 2 stars, and good environmental practices (waste sorting, water savings, renewable energy) become part of the facilities and points grid. Eleven of these campsites are in Occitanie, five in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and three in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Naturism here is almost always family-oriented, with the exception of Château Guiton, reserved for adults.
In the Gers, Domaine de Sarraute, in Le Houga, spans 26 hectares of meadows, woodland and a bamboo grove, and Domaine Devèze, in Gaudonville, open since 1966, has a 1.7-hectare lake. In the Hautes-Pyrénées, Domaine de l'Eglantière, an Ecocert-certified organic farm, runs along the Gers with direct river access. In the Gard, Domaine de La Genèse, on the banks of the Cèze, lends three free canoes, and in the Lot, Le Champ de Guiral, in Gourdon, has just 14 pitches in a family atmosphere. In the Ariège, Camping Millefleurs is the only naturist campsite in the department, at the foot of the Pyrenees.
In Lot-et-Garonne, Camping du Lac de Lislebonne, in Réaup-Lisse, has a private, swimmable lake of 2.5 hectares, classified Natura 2000. In Charente-Maritime, Le Petit Dauphin, in Les Mathes, is 5 km from a naturist beach. In Gironde, Château Guiton, in Frontenac, occupies an 18th-century wine estate reserved for adults and couples. In Dordogne, Terme d'Astor and Domaine naturiste de Chaudeau round out the offer, set in woodland and around a lake.
Domaine de l'Escride, in Belgentier in the Var, offers chalets, studios and mobile homes across 54 pitches, 20 km from Toulon; Camping Naturiste Messidor, in Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, has a mobile home labelled Handicap-accessible; and Domaine naturiste du Petit Arlane, in Valensole, runs along two lakes at the entrance to the Verdon. In the Ardèche, La Plage des Templiers is the only naturist site in the Ardèche gorges, accessible only on foot. In Corse-du-Sud, Village La Chiappa, in Porto-Vecchio, spans 60 hectares facing the Cerbicales islands, with air-conditioned bungalows.
At this level, comfort steps up compared to a 2-star site: campsites generally combine a pool, more complete facilities, a choice of rental accommodation (mobile homes, chalets) and basic services (grocery shop, playground). Check for water access (river, lake, beach) if that matters to you, as well as the site's family policy: some, like Château Guiton, are reserved for adults.
The gorges of the Gard and the Cèze, around Méjannes-le-Clap, are well suited to canoeing and cave visits, while the Valensole plateau, in the Verdon, is known for its lavender fields in summer. In the Ariège, Camping Millefleurs opens onto the first foothills of the Pyrenees, and in the Ardèche, La Plage des Templiers gives direct river access at the bottom of the gorges.
In the Gers, Domaine de Sarraute and Domaine Devèze are surrounded by bastide towns and cycling routes; in the Dordogne, Terme d'Astor and Domaine naturiste de Chaudeau sit close to the Périgord noir and its listed villages. On the Atlantic coast, Le Petit Dauphin, in Les Mathes, is 5 km from a naturist beach and on a cycle path.
Before booking, check whether the campsite welcomes families or is reserved for adults only, as at Château Guiton in Gironde, and whether access on foot or by boat is required, as at La Plage des Templiers.
