Occitania brings together 26 naturist campsites spread across twelve departments, from the Mediterranean coast to the foothills of the Pyrenees and the plateaus of the Massif Central: it is the French region with the most naturist campsites. Profiles range from large seaside villages to small, isolated family estates in the countryside, and accommodation ranges from bare pitches for tents and caravans to fully comfortable mobile homes, chalets and villas. Most campsites have a pool, either heated or natural depending on the site.
On the coast, Hérault concentrates the largest establishments: Le Sérignan Plage Nature and the Centre Naturiste René Oltra, at Cap d’Agde, a pioneer of French naturism since 1956, are among the largest in the network. In Aude, Le Clapotis, on the La Palme lagoon, and the two addresses of the naturist village of Leucate round out the seaside offer, between beaches, lagoons and watersports.
Inland, the Lot, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Gard and Aveyron are home to more intimate estates: Camping de Lalbrade and Clos Barrat, in the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park, or Domaine de la Sablière, in the Cèze gorges, while Aveyron hosts a 156-hectare association-run estate affiliated with the French Naturist Federation since 1965.
At the foot of the Pyrenees, Pyrénées-Orientales offers two campsites at the foot of the Canigou massif, while Ariège has just one, with a wood-stove sauna and Nordic bath, and Hautes-Pyrénées has an estate adjoining a certified organic farm.
To the west, Gers brings together two family estates between meadows and a lake, one powered by renewable electricity, the other offering a full activity programme, including archery and astronomy. Haute-Garonne, meanwhile, forty minutes from Toulouse and an hour from Carcassonne, offers Les Aillos, a wooded campsite awarded Qualité Tourisme status, with barbecue evenings in season.
For the sea and large seaside complexes, head to Hérault or Aude. For countryside and limestone plateaus, Lot, Gard, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne or Gers offer peaceful family estates. For the mountains, head to Pyrénées-Orientales and its two campsites at the foot of the Canigou. Each department page details its establishments, their facilities and their surroundings.
Occitania offers a rare diversity of landscapes for a naturist holiday: Mediterranean beaches from Cap d’Agde to Leucate, limestone gorges in the Gard and the Quercy, vineyards in the Minervois and the Armagnac, and Pyrenean peaks around the Canigou. The Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, crosses part of the region and can be explored by bike or boat, as can the Causses du Quercy, awarded UNESCO Global Geopark status.
Toulouse, Montpellier, Carcassonne with its medieval city, Albi with its Sainte-Cécile cathedral, and Auch on the Way of St James all punctuate the region and combine easily with a naturist stay, within an hour’s drive of most campsites, for alternating relaxation with cultural visits.
Every for naturists campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
